Many people do not have a particularly good understanding of pseudohypertension. Pseudohypertension refers to the value measured by some ordinary blood pressure monitors. Pseudohypertension is often caused by severe arteriosclerosis, which causes compression of the arteries. This indicates that the arteries have severe calcification, which is more common among middle-aged and elderly people. If pseudohypertension occurs, you must go to the hospital for examination in time to avoid greater impact on stomach health. Symptoms of pseudohypertension 1. Systolic pseudohypertension: This condition refers to systolic hypertension caused by severe tight pressure during measurement, which results in erroneous auscultation readings. This condition can also occur in cases of arterial wall thickening such as Munkeberg's calcific sclerosis. 2. Diastolic pseudohypertension, manifested by premature disappearance of Korotkoff sounds. 3. Cuff inflation hypertension. This type of hypertension is rare and does not occur often. The patient's blood pressure will rise when the cuff is inflated. Patients with the above three types of pseudohypertension will have increased arterial hardness, an increased incidence of cardiovascular diseases, and arteriosclerosis in the blood vessels of their internal organs, so they are often accompanied by insufficient blood supply to the organs. Causes 1. Physiological factors There are significant differences between directly measuring upper limb blood pressure and simultaneously measuring aortic blood pressure, with peripheral SBP being higher and DBP being lower. This progressive change from proximal to distal is related to the intensity and duration of the pulse wave reflection. 2. Technical factors Whether it is direct pressure measurement by arterial puncture or brachial artery blood pressure measurement by cuff method, its accuracy will be limited by some technical details. Many studies have found that cuff blood pressure measurement overestimates blood pressure values. SBP and DBP were approximately 5 mmHg and 5-10 mmHg higher, respectively. 3. The mechanism of cuff inflation hypertension Cuff inflation hypertension refers to a rise in blood pressure when the cuff is inflated. This phenomenon is mediated by nerves and only occurs in a small number of people. The specific mechanism is unknown. |
