The fastest way to reduce swelling and stasis

The fastest way to reduce swelling and stasis

Usually, swelling and congestion often occur due to improper conditioning or trauma. This is mainly because of edema of subcutaneous tissue, which leads to rupture of capillaries, which often causes congestion and swelling. At this time, it can be relieved by cold compress and then hot compress. There are also some methods in life that can achieve good improvement effects, such as rolling boiled eggs.

1. Apply cold compress first and then hot compress

After removing the needle after infusion, you can first apply a cold towel to the swollen area. Do not exceed 30 minutes at a time. Remember to apply cold compress again after resting for an hour, so as to give local tissue time to repair. After the cold compress treatment, wait for about 6 hours and then use a hot towel or hot water bag at a temperature of 60 to 70 degrees Celsius to apply to the swollen area. This can promote local blood circulation, so that the local swelling can be absorbed and subsided as soon as possible, thereby eliminating the swelling. It will go away in a day or two, so don't worry too much. But be careful not to apply too high a temperature when applying hot compress to avoid burning the skin.

2. Apply potato slices or mashed potatoes

Because potatoes are rich in potassium, potassium can not only help the body excrete sodium retained in the body, but also promote the body to excrete excess water, thereby achieving the effect of reducing swelling. Cut potatoes into slices and apply directly to the swollen area to eliminate the lumps. If you are worried that the potatoes are not cut evenly enough and cannot adhere to the skin well, you can also mash the potatoes into mashed potatoes and apply a layer evenly on the swollen area, which can also fully exert the anti-inflammatory and swelling effects of the potatoes.

3. Boil eggs and roll them on the skin

Boil the egg in the shell, then peel it and slowly roll it over the lump while it is still hot to reduce the swelling. This is a folk remedy and it is very effective. The principle of this is similar to that of hot compress. It should be done 24 hours after the swelling occurs, and then cold compress should be applied first and then hot compress. When rolling and massaging the boiled egg, you can wrap it in a clean, wet towel. It can also be understood as using appropriately high temperature to activate blood circulation and help reduce swelling, because freshly cooked eggs with skins have high heat preservation properties and are not easy to cool down immediately. The temperature between them and the softness and hardness after peeling are very suitable for helping to activate blood circulation and reduce swelling in the injured area.

4. Massage the lump

When the swollen hand is no longer too painful, move your wrist and gently massage the swollen area to speed up healing. This can also prevent blood circulation from being blocked due to long-term inactivity, which can lead to aggravated pain and swelling. Note: do not rub it after removing the needle, otherwise it will turn blue and stay blue for several days.

5. Magnesium sulfate topical application

If the condition is slightly more serious, you can also go to the pharmacy to buy some medicine. You can consider external application of magnesium sulfate, which is very effective. Especially if the hand swelling is caused by an infusion reaction due to phlebitis, it is more serious. For example, it manifests as cord-like red lines appearing along the veins, local tissue redness, swelling, burning, and pain, sometimes accompanied by systemic symptoms such as chills and fever.
