Symptoms of abnormal male sex hormones

For boys, if the secretion of sex hormones is abnormal, it will cause a variety of symptoms and lead to the occurrence of diseases. Male gonadal hormones are an important reason for maintaining male secondary sexual characteristics. When the secretion of sex hormones is abnormal, it may cause men to have feminine characteristics. In addition, it is easy to cause thyroid diseases. Because of abnormal testicular endocrine, it may lead to decreased sexual ability and cause male infertility.

Symptoms of abnormal male sex hormones

1. Thyroid disease

When the patient's endocrine system is abnormal, severe hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism may occur, both of which will affect the male reproductive function to varying degrees. When the thyroid gland is underactive, testosterone production is reduced, sperm production is inhibited, and sexual dysfunction occurs. In addition, when the thyroid gland is hyperfunctioning, men may suffer from breast development, loss of libido, impotence and other diseases.

2. Adrenal gland disease

Addison's disease and Cushing's syndrome caused by male endocrine abnormalities can lead to diseases such as adrenal cortical tumors and hyperaldosteronism, all of which can cause male infertility.

3. Pathological changes of testicular endocrine abnormalities

The most common symptoms of primary testicular dysfunction are radiation damage, cytotoxic damage, and malnutrition. Secondary testicular hypofunction manifests itself as a variety of symptoms such as male pseudohermaphroditism, all of which can cause male infertility.

What are sex hormones

Sex hormones include three categories: androgens, estrogens and progesterone. The latter two are collectively called estrogen. Androgens are mainly testosterone and small amounts of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and androstenedione. Estrogen is mainly estradiol (estrodiol) and a small amount of estrone (estrone) and estriol (estriol). Chemically, all sex hormones are steroid hormones.
