Do your calves get thicker due to frequent walking?

Some people have thick calves and think it is caused by frequent walking. In fact, the relationship between thick legs and walking is not completely proportional. Of course, frequent walking may cause thick calves, but proper walking generally does not cause such a phenomenon. There are many reasons for thick legs, including genetic reasons and some bad living habits, such as bad standing posture and frequent wearing of high heels.

There are three types of thick legs:

Firstly, the reason for thick legs is “fatness”, characterized by soft and white flesh, and weak calves, especially the back of the thighs, where the skin looks loose, just like what people often call cellulite. If this continues, even your hips will start to look saggy.

Secondly, the reason for thick legs is “strong”, the characteristic is that the meat is actually quite firm and does not look so white. Some people even have a piece of muscle in the calf! Her thighs aren't that saggy, they're just... too thick, and don't look good in a skirt. Some people don’t exercise often, but if they go shopping or travel too often, they may also have strong legs!

Thirdly, the reason for thick legs is "swelling". The legs that were originally slender and well-proportioned become swollen due to sitting or standing for a long time, especially for office workers who often eat out and work in air-conditioned rooms. They look neither fat nor strong, but just have a pair of big and thick legs. Some people may simply have fat legs or strong legs, while others may have fat legs and edema, or strong legs and edema. Observe your condition carefully, pinch your legs, and think about your lifestyle habits. There are actually different tasks to be done for different types of fat legs, which are explained below.

The key to training for fat legs

1. Exercise moderately. Loose fat usually appears because of a lack of exercise habit or because of people who used to exercise a lot but suddenly stopped the exercise habit, such as athletes or dancers who retired from the sports world. Moderate exercise can tighten and strengthen muscles and create beautiful lines. 2. Eat less meat, starch and other staple foods, and eat more vegetables and fruits. Another characteristic of the fat-legged group is that they often eat more staple food than side dishes. This is also the main cause of obesity. People who don’t like to exercise and eat too much fat and carbohydrates will have fat not only in their legs, but in many other parts of their body! 3. Use alternating hot and cold baths to promote blood circulation. This trick can also eliminate swollen legs.
