Are hypochondria and hysteria the same?

Are hypochondria and hysteria the same?

There is a disease called hypochondriasis. This disease problem is often judged by people's subjective conjecture and fantasy. It is not a real state. People will continue to do things based on their imagination until they deal with and solve them. Hysteria is caused by excessive mental stress, which leads to long-term abnormal thinking. The people do things they did not expect and are not under their own control. It is a rather scary disease, so are hypochondria and hysteria the same?

Hysteria, also known as hysteria, is a type of neurosis.

Generally divided into two types:

1. Physical symptoms caused by psychological trauma, such as paralysis, convulsions, blindness, deafness, muteness, sensory loss, etc.

2. The scope of consciousness is narrowed, and the traumatic experience is excluded from the body (selective amnesia during an attack). When the symptoms disappear, the patient often cannot recall the experience during the attack (selective amnesia after the attack).

The disease is prone to recurrence, which can occur rapidly due to psychological factors and recover quickly with appropriate treatment. The patient is emotional, self-centered, imaginative, and highly suggestible.

A type of neuropsychiatric disorder caused by mental stimulation or adverse suggestions. Most of the cases develop suddenly, and may cause sensory, motor and autonomic dysfunction, or transient mental abnormalities. Patients have distinct emotional colors, and examinations cannot reveal corresponding organic changes. In the occurrence and treatment of symptoms, suggestion and self-suggestion often play an important role. Clinical manifestations of hysteria are varied, so some people call it a "disease mimicker." Its specific manifestations are as follows:

1. Hysterical disorder of consciousness

The main manifestation is a state of confusion, that is, the patient's sudden narrowing of the scope of consciousness, his speech can reflect the content of his mental trauma, but he is slow to respond to other things in the outside world. It lasts for dozens of minutes and then stops on its own. After recovery, the patient usually cannot fully recall the course of the illness.

2. Hysterical mood disorders

The main manifestations are emotional outbursts, and after being mentally stimulated, the patient suddenly cries, shouts, beats the chest and stamps the feet, tears clothes and destroys things, and bangs his head against the wall. The symptoms are more severe when there are people watching, last for dozens of minutes and then subside on their own, and are partially forgotten afterwards.

3. Hysterical amnesia

It manifests as the patient forgetting part of the content of a period of time after being mentally stimulated, and that experience or that type of event is often creative and painful for the patient.

4. Hysterical wandering

The patient suddenly runs away from home or workplace during the day. The place he runs away may be a place that he used to be familiar with and has emotional significance to. While he is away, he can take care of himself and have basic social interactions. The illness usually lasts for several hours to several days, and starts and ends suddenly. After waking up, the patient cannot recall the course of the illness.

5. Hysterical sensory disturbance

After mental stimulation, the person may find it difficult to tolerate general sound or light stimulation, or may have reduced or absent sensitivity to stimulation. Some also show symptoms such as sudden blindness and deafness.
