What to do if your tooth is broken

The specific process of tooth filling is as follows:

1. Cavity preparation:

Hole making is the drilling stage and is the first step in the tooth filling process. Before filling a tooth, the carious tooth needs to be prepared and a cavity made. The cavity is composed of cavity walls, cavity edges, and cavity corners. During the cavitation process, the doctor needs to do the following:

① Remove the diseased tissue completely, otherwise it will cause secondary caries;

② Protect the dental pulp and healthy tooth tissue;

③ Establish a good retention shape and resistance shape to prevent the filling from breaking, falling off, or not fitting tightly, which may cause secondary caries.

2. Disinfection:

This step is very important. If the disinfection is not complete, bacteria will continue to grow in the tooth cavity, which will cause the child to have tooth pain again in the future. After the cavity is made, most of the infection in the tooth has been removed. In order to better eliminate the remaining infection, the cavity needs to be further disinfected. The drugs used to disinfect the cavity should have strong bactericidal power, be harmless to the dental pulp, have analgesic and soothing effects, not discolor the teeth, and not affect the performance of the filling material. Disinfection is the second step in the tooth filling process. This process is particularly important. It directly affects the pain the patient will feel after the filling.

3. Filling materials:

Filling is the process of placing filling material into a prepared cavity. Isolate saliva, disinfect the cavity, prepare filling materials and fill them into the cavity, sculpt the shape, and pay attention to removing the part that exceeds the occlusal surface to avoid iatrogenic occlusal trauma. Selection of filling materials: Filling materials should be non-toxic, wear-resistant, have compressive strength, maintain volume after filling, fit tightly with the cavity, not be corroded or dissolved by saliva, be easy to operate and have beautiful color.

4. Grinding or polishing:

The surface of the tooth needs to be smooth, but the filling material does not solidify as desired. The purpose of grinding or polishing is to smooth out the slight unevenness on the surface of the filling.

5. Remove residue:

After filling the tooth with filling material, the dentist will polish the tooth surface and clean the residue attached to the tooth.
