What to do if children have low bone density

What to do if children have low bone density

By testing the bone density of children, we can see whether the child has the potential to grow taller. If the test value is younger than the actual age, it means there is still room for growth, but it also means that calcium, various trace elements, etc. are needed. So what should we do if children have low bone density? What should we do if children have low bone density? You should eat more foods high in calcium and drink more milk. In addition, various vitamins can be taken in through fruits, vegetables, etc.

Factor 1 : Insufficient vitamin D intake .

Solution: This mainly requires attention in daily diet. Foods such as animal liver, various oil-rich fish, various egg yolks, various whole milks, cheese and cream are high in vitamin D. Let your baby eat more of these foods.

Factor 2: Lack of vitamin A.

Solution: Fruits, vegetables, animal liver, fish, seafood, cream and eggs are rich in vitamin A. Guide your baby to eat these foods.

Factor 3: Lack of vitamin C :

This is also one of the factors that affect the baby's bone density. Related studies have shown that vitamin C intake is inversely proportional to the degree of bone density decline. If the baby lacks vitamin C, the synthesis of collagen in the body will be reduced and bone mineralization cannot be completed. Vitamin C is different from vitamin AD. Vitamin AD is a fat-soluble vitamin and does not exist directly in vegetables and fruits. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and is widely found in fruits and vegetables. Parents can supplement it for their babies through a daily balanced diet.

Foods that are relatively high in vitamin C include broccoli, cauliflower, kale, mustard greens, Chinese cabbage, rapeseed, hawthorn, fresh dates, kiwi, papaya, orange, strawberry, etc. You can let your baby eat more of these foods. However, since vitamin C is easily destroyed by high temperatures, it is best to blanch or stir-fry vegetables. Long-term stewing, frying or roasting will lead to a large loss of vitamin C nutrients.

Factor 4: Lack of zinc

Zinc is also one of the trace elements in the human body. Its most important function is to constitute the substance of many enzymes in the body. These enzymes are involved in many functions of the body, including "alkaline phosphatase". If zinc is deficient, the content of alkaline phosphatase will decrease, which will affect the absorption and transportation of calcium, making it difficult to deposit bone calcium and causing a decrease in bone density.

For infants, breastfeeding is beneficial in preventing zinc deficiency. The zinc content in human colostrum is 3 to 4 times higher than that in mature milk. The bioavailability of zinc in human milk is higher than that in soy protein and cow's milk. Of course, there are great individual differences in the zinc content in human milk, which is mainly closely related to the dietary zinc intake during pregnancy and lactation. Currently, all formula milk is fortified with an appropriate amount of zinc. Children should be fed complementary foods on time, and attention should be paid to the reasonable combination of complementary food types, advocating "natural food, balanced diet". As long as the dietary structure is reasonable, and the daily intake of animal food, vegetables, fruits, and cereals is guaranteed, and coarse grains are added appropriately, with a combination of coarse and fine grains, it will be sufficient to ensure that these foods are not lacking.

In addition, if the baby is old enough to exercise, it is recommended to exercise more and give the baby an eye bath.
