It is normal for newborn babies to have white spots on their noses. But parents are always very worried about their newborn babies, always afraid that these white spots may be a sign of some disease, so they use various drugs to eliminate these white spots. However, some medicines are very harmful to baby's skin and may even cause allergies and inflammation. So, what are those white spots that appear on newborn babies’ noses? 1. What are the white spots on the nose of a newborn baby? The white spots should be called miliary rash or fat particles. Generally, needle-sized white milia can be seen on the tip of the nose, wings of the nose, and cheeks of newborns. This is caused by the accumulation of sebaceous glands and disappears naturally after peeling. It's caused by the estrogen in the mother's body entering the baby's body through the umbilical cord. Most babies have this problem, and it will get better slowly. It's okay, and it's probably similar to acne. Don't squeeze it or use any medicine. Just wipe it when you bathe it every day, and it will get better naturally after a while. Otherwise it will leave scars. If the white spots on your baby's nose deepen in color and do not fade even after full term, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for treatment in time as it may be due to other diseases. Clinical manifestations of miliary rash They often appear in the first week after birth and are distributed on the face, head, and intertriginous areas. There are four typical types of prickly heat in clinical practice: 1. Miliaria vitiligo (milliary crystalline): transparent blisters the size of a needle tip, with no red halo around them and easy to break. Generally no symptoms. It is absorbed within 1-2 days, leaving only slight scaling. 2. Red miliaria is common in the armpits, elbows, forehead, trunk, etc. The skin lesions appear in batches, appearing as densely arranged needle-sized papules and papulovesicles, surrounded by a red halo, accompanied by a burning and itching sensation. There is mild desquamation after the rash subsides. 3. Miliaria purulenta (pustular miliaria) often develops from miliaria rubra and is prone to occur in skin folds and the head and neck. The lesions are densely packed papules with pillow-sized shallow pustules on top. Bacterial culture was negative. 4. Deep miliaria: It is common in the neck, trunk and other parts of the body. The lesions are dense, noninflammatory papulovesicles that coincide with the sweat pores and increase in size with sweating. 3. What to do about miliary rash in newborns The cure for neonatal milia is time—you don't have to do anything. After a while, they will heal without treatment. Note: This condition usually disappears on its own within a few weeks after birth and does not require treatment. Do not put any oils or ointments on your baby's milia. Also, don't squeeze the milia to make it go away faster, as this may leave scars. |
