Gamma Knife Surgery

Gamma Knife Surgery

Nowadays, tumors have become a very common disease, but because tumors have no symptoms in the early stages, many people find that the disease has already developed to the middle and late stages when they discover that they have tumors. Severe tumors require calcified knife surgery to completely cure them. So, how is the Kamagra surgery performed?

Gamma Knife: It is divided into head gamma knife and body gamma knife. The gamma knife head is a device that installs multiple cobalt sources in a spherical helmet and focuses them on a certain point inside the skull to form a narrow beam of gamma rays with sharp edges. During treatment, a narrow beam of radiation is focused on the lesion to form a localized high-dose area to destroy the lesion. It is mainly used to treat small intracranial tumors and functional diseases. Body Gamma Knife is mainly used to treat various tumors throughout the body.

The electron linear accelerator is a type of radiotherapy equipment developed in the 1970s. About 70% of cancers can be treated with accelerators with good results. Linear accelerators can produce X-rays with a wide energy range and high-energy electron beams with a variety of energies. The X-rays have a high radiation dose, a large field area, good ray uniformity, a small radiation source focus, high accuracy, and good safety for patients.

For example, when using high-energy electron beams to irradiate malignant tumors localized on one side, such as parotid gland and submandibular gland cancer, the tongue and the contralateral oral mucosa can be protected from damage. Total body irradiation also has satisfactory therapeutic effects on skin cancer. High-energy electron beams can also be used for intraoperative irradiation for mid- to late-stage tumors and tumors that are difficult to remove surgically. A large dose of irradiation can be performed once during surgical removal of the tumor. Because it is an exposure irradiation with accurate positioning and irradiation range, it can achieve effects that cannot be achieved by simple surgery or simple external irradiation.

High-energy X-rays can be used for preoperative irradiation therapy to shrink tumors and loosen adhesions, thereby increasing surgical resection rates, killing or resisting active tumor cells, thereby reducing cancer metastasis caused by surgical operations and improving patient survival rates. Palliative radiotherapy can be used for advanced deep-seated cancers that have lost the chance of radical radiotherapy. It can relieve pain, improve quality of life, and even prolong life.
