Is Traditional Chinese Medicine Effective in Treating Myopia?

Myopia has almost become a disease exclusive to young people in today's electronic age. Such a high incidence rate is inseparable from incorrect eye habits. The main cause of myopia is the long-term use of electronic products. The formation of myopia is not instantaneous and requires a certain amount of development time. The treatment of myopia is very slow, and the effect is often not that significant. Now many medical institutions are defrauding people under the banner of treating myopia. Therefore, you should not be anxious during the treatment process and should choose the correct method. So, is traditional Chinese medicine effective in treating myopia?

1. Correct bad eye habits

1. Avoid long periods of continuous computer operation and reading. Be careful not to wait until you feel eye fatigue before taking a break. Instead, take a 10-15 minute break every hour or so. During the break, look at the green trees or distant scenery outside the window, or do eye exercises to fully relax your eyes.

2. Maintain a good working posture when operating a computer or reading or studying. Maintain the most appropriate posture, with your eyes looking straight ahead or slightly downward at the screen. This will relax your neck muscles and minimize the area of your eyeballs exposed to the air. Avoid reading while lying down, in poorly lit areas, or on moving objects such as vehicles. It is better to use fluorescent lamp for reading.

3. If your eyes become dry, red, have a burning or foreign body sensation, your eyelids become heavy, your vision becomes blurred, or you even have eye pain or headache, you should immediately stop operating the computer and reading and studying, and take a break for a while.

2. Adjust your diet

Studies have found that increasing protein and reducing carbohydrate intake in the diet can reduce or stop the increase in myopia in adolescents with a genetic background. Therefore, to avoid myopia, eat less candy and high-sugar foods. Eating too much sugar will produce a large amount of acidic substances in the blood. The acid combines with the salt in the body, especially calcium, causing a decrease in blood calcium. This will affect the toughness of the eyeball wall, making the eye axis easy to stretch, and contributing to the occurrence and development of myopia. Studies have shown that people with myopia can supplement with protein, calcium, phosphorus, carrots, bean sprouts, oranges, tangerines, red dates and other fruits and vegetables which are also beneficial for myopia.

3. Take medication to improve vision in a timely manner

It is mainly aimed at children under 18 years old, because they are in the stage of vision development and their eyes have strong adaptability. Doctors generally recommend taking Lejing Vision Nutrients, which should be taken with warm water. If taken for a period of time, it can quickly reduce the degree of myopia and achieve the goal of restoring vision.
