What is pathological acute eyelid inflammation?

The eyelid is a very important part of the eye. It is the lower edge of the eye and has a great influence on the shape of the eye. The eye is also a part where problems often occur, and it often brings some discomfort to people's bodies. For example, eyelid inflammation is a common problem, and pathological blepharitis is a common symptom. Let's take a look at what is pathological acute eyelid inflammation?

Pathological eyelid edema is divided into inflammatory eyelid edema and non-inflammatory eyelid edema. In addition to eyelid edema, the former also has local redness, heat, pain and other symptoms. The causes include acute eyelid inflammation, eyelid trauma, or periocular inflammation. Most of the latter do not have symptoms such as local redness, heat, and swelling. Common causes are allergic diseases or allergies to eye drops, heart disease, hypothyroidism, acute and chronic nephritis, and idiopathic neurovascular eyelid edema.

Among the pathological factors that cause eyelid swelling, heart disease and kidney disease are the most common. There are differences between eyelid swelling caused by kidney disease and heart disease:

1. Eyelid edema caused by kidney disease: The main manifestation is that after waking up in the morning, the eyelids are very obviously swollen, the edema gradually decreases in the afternoon, and the eyes squint outward. If it is simple under-eye edema, it is a sign of kidney disease. Swelling of the tear duct and varicose veins are also signs of kidney disease. If such people eat too much salt, in order to dilute the salt concentration in the body, they will drink too much water, which will lead to deterioration of kidney function. Excessive water stored under the skin will aggravate edema.

2. Eyelid edema caused by heart disease: Eyelid edema caused by heart disease is mild in the morning, severe in the afternoon, and most obvious at night. Moreover, the edema of heart disease starts from the lower limbs, that is, the feet.

3. Eyelid edema caused by hypothyroidism: If there is no obvious change in eyelid swelling from morning to night, and the face looks dull and lifeless, it is likely that you have hypothyroidism.

4. Eye inflammation: In addition to eyelid swelling, there are also symptoms such as local redness, heat, and pain. The causes include acute eyelid inflammation, eyelid trauma, or periocular inflammation.

5. Allergy to eye drops can also cause eyelid edema, so you should be careful to distinguish them.
