It is actually very common for male children to have phimosis, but many parents do not know much about this. In fact, phimosis is very simple to treat. The current surgical treatment is mainly minimally invasive. Children can usually undergo the surgery after they are three or four years old. After the operation, relevant care just needs to be done. What to do if a child has phimosis 1. Daily care After a child suffers from phimosis, parents must pay attention to maintaining the hygiene of the penis and regularly clean the dirt accumulated in the foreskin of the glans. If there is inflammation (redness, swelling) at the foreskin opening, you can first use anti-inflammatory drugs or hot compresses. After the inflammation subsides, if urination improves, surgical treatment can be temporarily avoided. If urination is still difficult or foreskin incarceration occurs, you should go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible. 2. Surgical treatment Generally speaking, children with phimosis can undergo surgical treatment after the age of three or four. If the inflammatory infection ascends to the urinary system, the harm will be greater. (1) When there is no adhesion, surgical treatment after local anesthesia can be used to expand the foreskin opening artificially or with inflation. The use of tracheal dilatation treatment can save the vast majority of children with phimosis from the pain of surgical treatment. Before the dilation operation, anesthetic is dripped into the outer opening of the foreskin. After 2-3 minutes, a disposable balloon catheter is used to separate the adhesion between the foreskin and the glans penis. Then the foreskin is turned up, the smegma is removed, a small amount of ointment is applied, and finally the foreskin is restored to its original position to cover the glans penis. The whole operation only takes a dozen minutes. There is only a slight feeling of distension when the balloon is inflated and slight discomfort when separating adhesions. A check-up and medication application will be done once two days after the operation. After that, as long as the local area is kept clean and regular cleaning is done, re-adhesion can be prevented. Balloon catheter dilatation is a non-invasive treatment that does not cause bleeding and is minimally painful. Children generally cooperate and accept it. (2) Circumcision should be performed when adhesions occur, especially when they are severe. If adhesion occurs, the glans will have uneven shape and varying shades of pigment after resection, affecting the appearance. |
