Can wisdom teeth be extracted when they are inflamed?

Teeth are organs mainly used for chewing food. Human teeth usually begin to develop at around one year old, and wisdom teeth are a relatively special part of the teeth. They usually begin to sprout after puberty. During adolescence, the human body's psychological age is relatively mature, so wisdom teeth are also regarded as a symbol of wisdom. However, if you do not pay attention to oral hygiene, many people will also face the phenomenon of wisdom tooth inflammation. So can wisdom teeth be extracted when they are inflamed?

Generally speaking, wisdom teeth are not extracted when they are inflamed. First, when wisdom teeth are inflamed, the anesthetic is not easily absorbed, so the anesthetic effect is very poor and it may be painful when the tooth is extracted. Second, when wisdom teeth become inflamed, the risk of tooth extraction is relatively high and there will be more bleeding during the extraction process. There is a greater chance of infection after a tooth extraction. Therefore, it is generally recommended to perform tooth extraction surgery when there is no inflammation in the wisdom teeth and the body's resistance is relatively strong.

Wisdom teeth belong to the third molars. With the evolution of human beings, the alveolar bone gradually becomes narrower, and the third molars gradually degenerate and slowly withdraw from our lives. Many people no longer have wisdom teeth, and many friends have only one or several wisdom teeth.

Because of the receding of the alveolar bone, the growth space of wisdom teeth is compressed, causing most wisdom teeth to encounter greater resistance when erupting and then become impacted teeth. There are many types of impacted teeth. These impacted teeth will not only cause pain to yourself, but also harm the adjacent teeth, bringing adverse effects to the adjacent teeth and even the health of the entire mouth of teeth.

Of course, not all wisdom teeth need to be removed. If the wisdom teeth grow in the right position and there are opposing teeth, you may consider not removing them. Another option is if you have missing molars and want to correct them, you can also consider not removing your wisdom teeth, but making reasonable use of them through orthodontic methods. Of course, if the impacted teeth or wisdom teeth are already decayed, it is recommended to remove them as soon as possible.

Tooth extraction is a traumatic surgery. Although the wound is small, there is still a risk of infection. If the tooth is extracted when there is inflammation, the risk will increase. At the same time, wisdom teeth are the most difficult to extract among all teeth, and the wound is relatively large. In order to better ensure the postoperative effect, doctors will recommend extracting them after the inflammation is eliminated.
