What to do if you have a nasal septum perforation

Nasal septum perforation can generally be treated with nasal septum mucosal flap repair, turbinate mucosal flap repair, nasal floor and nasal septum mucosal repair, and some people use extranasal tissue free transplantation and non-surgical closure. If you have symptoms of nasal septum perforation, you need to go to the hospital for examination and let the doctor choose the appropriate treatment method according to your condition.

1. Turbinate mucosal flap repair method: 1. There are usually two types of turbinate mucosal flap repair methods, such as the middle turbinate mucosal transposition method, which usually makes an inverted U-shaped incision at the middle turbinate, then flips up and down the perforation, then packs the bilateral nasal cavity, and finally cuts off the pedicle; 2. The inferior turbinate mucosal transposition method, which usually makes a positive U-shaped incision on the surface of the inferior turbinate and treats by flipping upwards;

2. Nasal septum mucosal flap repair method: Nasal septum mucosal repair method usually also includes tension-relieving suture method and nasal septum mucosal flap transposition repair method. 1. The tension-relieving suture method usually involves making an arc-shaped incision after local anesthesia, loosening the mucoperiosteum, covering the perforation, and suturing the upper edge. 2. The nasal septum mucosal transposition repair method usually bypasses the perforation from above and makes an arc-shaped incision below the rear edge of the perforation to cover and treat the perforation;

3. Nasal floor and nasal septum mucosal repair method: Most of them refer to making a posterior incision from the inferior nasal meatus on one side of the nasal cavity, and then flapping and suturing the upper edge of the perforation by separating the nasal periosteum and mucosal tissue;

4. Free transplantation of extranasal tissue: usually used to repair nasal septum perforation, temporal fascia lata or tibial periosteum. The fascia incision can be embedded around the perforation and then sutured and fixed.

5. Non-surgical closure method: Usually based on the size of the perforation, an H-shaped silicone button is inserted into the perforation to achieve the therapeutic effect.
