The ureter is an organ in the human excretory system. The upper part of this organ is connected to the human kidney and the lower part is connected to the human bladder. Its main function is to transport urine produced by the kidney to the bladder. Due to people's bad eating habits, sleeping habits and other living habits, this organ is more prone to diseases. Left upper ureteral dilatation is a common problem. So how should left upper ureteral dilatation be treated? Dilatation of the upper left ureter may be caused by ureteral stones. The stone should be in the middle and lower part of the ureter. If the bladder is well filled, the stone in the lower segment should be visible. It is recommended to check the lower ureter after the bladder is full. Drink more water, move more, and jump, and there won't be any problem. Treatment [treatment strategies] include conservative treatment and minimally invasive surgery. [Drug treatment] 1. Control urinary tract infection. 2. Commonly used drugs for stone removal include diuretics, drugs that dilate ureteral smooth muscle, anti-inflammatory and anti-edema drugs. Among them, commonly used ureteral dilation drugs include α-receptor blockers; anti-inflammatory and anti-edema drugs mainly include corticosteroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. [Surgical treatment] Minimally invasive surgery mainly includes extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), ureteroscopic lithotripsy (URL), percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL), ureteroscopic flexible ureteroscopy, laparoscopic ureterolithotomy, etc. [Prognosis] The prognosis is generally good. Active treatment can remove stones, relieve symptoms, and protect renal function. However, if the factors that cause stone formation are not eliminated, recurrence is likely. Symptoms and Diagnosis [Typical Symptoms] When stones are mobile, incarcerated, obstructive or complicated by infection, they will manifest as the following typical clinical symptoms. 1. Pain is the most common symptom. The pain usually occurs suddenly and develops to a severe degree in a short period of time, manifesting as severe radiating colic. The colic is paroxysmal and worsens, and is accompanied by shock symptoms such as sweating, pale complexion, decreased blood pressure, palpitations and rapid pulse. Severe pain is often accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating, nausea, and vomiting. 2. When stones cause mucosal damage, it will manifest as microscopic or macroscopic hematuria, and occasionally small blood clots may be discharged. Nursing [Department] Urology, Nephrology [Daily Care] 1. Develop the habit of drinking plenty of water and keep the daily urine volume above 2000-3000ml. 2. Maintain good work and rest habits and try to avoid staying up late. 3. Actively participate in outdoor sports and relax. 4. Check regularly. [Dietary adjustment] Patients with calcium oxalate stones should limit their intake of high-calcium and high-oxalate diets, as well as foods high in sugar, animal protein, and fat. People with uric acid stones should avoid eating animal offal and high-purine foods. Phosphate stones Restrict dietary phosphate intake. |
