How long is the caesarean section scar

With the development of cesarean section technology, cesarean section technology has gradually matured in medicine, so many pregnant women tend to choose cesarean section during the delivery process. During a caesarean section, doctors give pregnant women anesthesia and then perform surgery on their stomachs. Since a caesarean section is a procedure where a doctor artificially takes the baby out of a pregnant woman's belly, it will leave a scar on the pregnant woman's belly. But how long is the scar left by a caesarean section?

The length of the cesarean section incision mainly depends on the size of the fetus (mainly the size of the fetal head) and the fetal position. The incision is usually more than 10 cm. There are two types of incisions: longitudinal incision and transverse incision. My cesarean section incision was longitudinal, made on the midline of the abdomen, starting from the lower edge of the belly button and extending to the upper edge of the pubic bone, and was 15.5 cm long. This was because the fetus, especially the head, was large, otherwise the baby would not have been able to come out. I consulted both Chinese and Western medicine doctors beforehand, and they all said that making a vertical incision would cause less damage to the blood vessels, nerves, and meridians in the abdomen, would result in less bleeding during the operation, and would be easier for the doctor to operate. So I asked for a longitudinal incision. The horizontal incision is made in the middle of the lower abdomen above the pubic bone, which is usually not visible when wearing low-waist pants. The only advantage is that it is more aesthetically pleasing. However, if you have other surgeries on your lower abdomen in the future, you usually have to make a longitudinal incision, leaving a "cross" or "T" shaped scar on your abdomen, which is really ugly. Caesarean section is a method of delivery that must be adopted when there is no other choice. Expectant mothers should strive for a natural birth, which is beneficial to both themselves and the child.

Scar care

After a long-term investigation, it was found that some women do not pay attention to scar care, and special precautions are given to female friends:

1. Do not remove the scab from the incision too early after surgery. Removing the scab too early and hard will take away the epidermal cells that are still in the repair stage, even tear off the dermal tissue, and stimulate itching of the wound;

2. Avoid sunlight to prevent ultraviolet rays from stimulating pigmentation;

3. Apply some topical medications such as Fuqingsong, triamcinolone, dexamethasone, etc. to relieve itching;

4. Improve your diet and eat more fruits, eggs, lean meat, pork skin and other foods rich in vitamins C, E and essential amino acids. These foods can promote blood circulation and improve epidermal metabolism. Avoid eating spicy foods such as peppers, onions and garlic;

5. If you want scars to disappear completely and restore your skin to its original appearance, you need to use scar removal products to achieve ideal results.

6. Keep the scar clean and hygienic, wipe off sweat in time, do not scratch it with your hands, rub the scar with clothes or use water to relieve itching, so as not to aggravate local irritation, promote inflammatory reaction of connective tissue, and cause further itching.
