Treatment of head injury

Treatment of head injury

Brain trauma refers to serious damage to people's brain nerve tissue. Generally speaking, patients with craniocerebral trauma usually show headaches, memory loss and even coma, which causes very serious damage to the patient's brain. Therefore, craniocerebral trauma must be treated accurately, and daily care measures must also be taken with great care. So, what are the nursing measures for craniocerebral trauma?

How to distinguish and treat brain trauma and head trauma

Many people often mistake head injuries for brain injuries, and as a result, they are burdened with a heavy psychological burden. In fact, head trauma and brain trauma are two completely different concepts. Brain trauma refers to damage to intracranial tissues, such as blood vessels, nerves and brain tissue. After the injury, there are often varying degrees of coma. CT and EEG examinations can also reveal abnormalities, and there are varying degrees of sequelae, such as dizziness, headache, nausea and vomiting, memory loss, and in severe cases, paralysis or even becoming a "vegetable". Head trauma only refers to damage to the scalp and its blood vessels, nerves and skull, while there is no obvious damage to the intracranial tissues.

Generally speaking, brain trauma must be accompanied by a history of head trauma, but head trauma does not necessarily lead to brain trauma. However, some people with a history of head trauma, although they have no history of brain trauma, no history of coma, and no abnormalities found in CT and EEG examinations, have more subjective symptoms, such as headaches, insomnia, lack of concentration, lack of energy, general weakness, etc. The reasons are nothing more than: ① Most patients are overly worried, fearful, and anxious about head trauma, which leads to excessive mental burden and mental disorders. The negative influence of the surrounding environment, such as excessive worry and care from relatives and friends, and the negative stimulation of the accident itself, is also an important factor. ② In the event of trauma, the neck will almost invariably suffer whiplash injuries of varying degrees. This can cause "stretching" or "tension" headaches. ③ Failure to receive timely and reasonable treatment and sufficient rest after head trauma.

In order to relieve their discomfort, these patients must first eliminate their worries and distractions and build up confidence. Understand that head trauma and brain trauma are different. Even severe head injuries will not cause sequelae like brain trauma. Secondly, pay attention to combining rest with exercise. The purpose of rest is to allow the disordered nerve function to fully recover, but excessive and long-term bed rest may have the opposite effect. Therefore, it is necessary to appropriately participate in some low-intensity physical exercises, maintain good living habits, and have a regular daily routine and a disciplined life. In this way, the disordered nerve functions can gradually recover.

In terms of drug treatment, there is no need to abuse the so-called "brain tonic drugs". You can take appropriate amounts of oryzanol and vitamin drugs. For those with more severe headache symptoms, general analgesics can be used together with sedatives, or 1% procaine can be used for pain point blocking, which can usually achieve satisfactory results.
