Is fresh or dried Dendrobium better?

Is fresh or dried Dendrobium better?

Today, with the improvement of living standards, many people realize that health is an issue that cannot be ignored. Chinese herbal medicine tonics are a tradition that has been passed down by the Chinese nation for thousands of years. When purchasing Dendrobium officinale, many people are deeply worried: which one has stronger nutritional value, fresh Dendrobium or dried Dendrobium?

The nutritional value of fresh Dendrobium is better than that of dried Dendrobium, but dried Dendrobium is easier to store than fresh Dendrobium.

Fresh Dendrobium has always been highly valued in clinical medicine because of its good effects in nourishing yin and promoting body fluid. When some doctors prescribe medicine, they usually put the word "fresh" in front of Dendrobium officinale, calling it "fresh Dendrobium", which means it should be used fresh. Therefore, fresh Dendrobium is often available in general pharmacies.

Fresh Dendrobium is better than dried Dendrobium in clearing away heat, detoxifying, promoting salivation and quenching thirst.

In the past two years, everyone has been planting Huoshan Dendrobium officinale, but fresh Huoshan Dendrobium officinale was never sold. It is hard to say whether the dried slices of Huoshan Dendrobium officinale sold on the market are Huoshan Dendrobium officinale.

Fresh medicine is juicy and tender, easy to rot, especially in rainy seasons, and is even more difficult to store. Therefore, most Chinese medicine stores and hospital Chinese medicine rooms rarely carry fresh Chinese medicine, which makes it impossible for fresh medicine to fully play its due role in treatment and makes many famous Chinese medicine practitioners have suggestions.

The storage of fresh Dendrobium is very complicated. If the number is small, you can first wet the roots in water, and then plant them in potted pots. Be careful not to plant them too deep, otherwise the roots will rot over time. Put coarse sand or small river pebbles inside and place it in a cool place outdoors. If there is too much, place it in a cool and shady farmland and do not eat the alkali. When you find that the stems on the roots are turning yellow, cut them off. At the same time, different solutions must be taken according to the season.

1. Spring and autumn. Pour some cold water on the bluestone slab or stone ground in advance, and then stand the Dendrobium officinale evenly on it. You can also stand it upright in a bamboo basket, soak it in water with the basket once a day to moisten the roots, and remove it after 5 minutes. It cannot be too wet and cold, because it has few leaves and fat stems, and the annual rainfall is small. If it is soaked in too much water, it will easily rot and die. However, do not sprinkle cold water on the leaf stems immediately to prevent the leaves from falling off. It should be placed in a ventilated place indoors.

2. Summer. It is difficult to store during the plum rain season, and it is very easy for fresh Dendrobium to turn yellow, wither leaves, and grow mold spots. If it is caught in rainy weather, it will become moldy in a very short period of time, secrete thick juice, and the leaf stems will become white and cracked, and it will no longer have medicinal value. At this time, it is advisable to comb the dog frequently, avoid lying it down, prevent it from being crowded too tightly, and place it in a well-ventilated and cool place, away from heat, wind or sun.

3. Winter. Place them in a bamboo basket with the roots in the center, stack them in a ring, and let the branches face outward to prevent the leaves from turning yellow and falling off. Cover it with a cattail bag and place it indoors or in a warmer area. At the same time, attention should still be paid to indoor ventilation. It should not be placed outdoors or in a cold place, otherwise the moisture will freeze and solidify, and the plant tissue will be damaged and die.
