What to do if Cordyceps is infested with insects

After buying Cordyceps, you must pay attention to its good preservation, such as placing it in a ventilated and dry place. If it is not stored properly, it may be infested with insects. For such Cordyceps, first of all, its quality will be reduced. At this time, if the infestation is not particularly serious, you can use certain methods to drive away the insects. At this time, the Cordyceps should be eaten as soon as possible. Of course, if the infestation is more serious, the health benefits of such Cordyceps will be greatly reduced.

What to do if Cordyceps is infested with insects

You can fumigate it with sulfur, or bake it slightly with charcoal fire, and then sift out the pests and wood debris. Generally speaking, if you are at home, it is best to expose it to the sun, and then sift out the pests and wood debris. If the problem is not serious, it can still be used.

How to store Cordyceps sinensis?

1. Place in a cool and dry place

Cordyceps sinensis needs to be protected from moisture, mildew and moth. If it only needs to be stored for a short period of time, such as a few days or a dozen days, just put it in a cool and dry place.

2. Put in plastic bag and refrigerate

If the storage time is slightly longer, such as more than 1 month, the Cordyceps can be put into a clean and intact plastic bag. The bag should be of a certain thickness and not too thin. Then seal the bag tightly. Put two more layers of plastic bags outside the plastic bag containing the Cordyceps and seal the bag. Refrigerate it in the refrigerator (the temperature is preferably between 2 and 8 degrees). Do not freeze it.

3. Add peppercorns

When the sun is shining, spread the bulk Cordyceps on the ground in plenty of sunlight to dry. Afterwards, gently pick up the Cordyceps, which is easy to break at this time, and put it into a plastic film bag. Put an average of about 200 grams of Sichuan pepper in a cloth bag for every kilogram of Cordyceps at the bottom, seal it, and place it in a cool and dry place.

4. Add desiccant

If the quantity is large or needs to be stored for a long time, it is best to put some desiccant in the bag. This way of storage can generally ensure that the Cordyceps sinensis is intact and the quality will not be reduced. During storage, it should be checked regularly, at least once a month. If it is found to be damp or moldy, it should be dried immediately and then continued to be stored in the same way.
