The difference between Huangjing and Huangjing

Everyone knows that Chinese medicine is very profound. Of course, Chinese medicine cannot be used without Chinese medicine. Everyone knows that many Chinese medicines cannot be used directly as medicines, and they need to be processed before they can be used. Although Polygonatum sibiricum is a very common Chinese medicine, it is not suitable for direct use as medicine. The effect of Polygonatum sibiricum after processing is very good. Many people do not understand the difference between Polygonatum sibiricum and wine. The following introduces the difference between Polygonatum sibiricum and wine.

What is the difference between the method of taking Huangjing with wine and Huangjing?

Traditional Chinese medicine is a very important part of traditional Chinese medicine, but some traditional Chinese medicine needs to be processed in order to better exert its medicinal effects. Huangjing (Rhizoma Polygonati Sinensis) is one of them. So, what is the difference between Huangjing and Huangjing?

1. Anti-pathogenic microbial effect: In vitro tests show that the water extract of Polygonatum sibiricum (1:320) has an inhibitory effect on Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, and acid-fast bacilli. 2% Polygonatum sibiricum in Sabouraud extract has varying degrees of inhibitory effect on common pathogenic fungi.

2. Effect on blood sugar: When rabbits were gavaged with Polygonatum sibiricum extract, their blood sugar levels gradually increased and then decreased. Polygonatum sibiricum extract has a significant inhibitory effect on hyperglycemia induced by adrenaline.

3. Anti-fatigue effect: Intraperitoneal injection of 0.3 ml/mouse of 17.67% Polygonatum sibiricum decoction can extend the swimming time of mice.

4. Antioxidant effect: 20% concentration of Polygonatum sibiricum decoction, 13 ml/mouse per day, for 27 consecutive days increased the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the mouse liver and decreased the content of myocardial lipofuscin.

5. Anti-aging effect: 20% concentration of Polygonatum sibiricum decoction is used to soak mulberry leaves and feed silkworms, which can extend the larval stage of silkworms.

6. Hemostatic effect: 40 mg/mouse of methanol extract of Polygonatum sibiricum, 20 mg/mouse of n-butanol fraction and 20 mg/mouse of aqueous fraction were injected intraperitoneally. The tail of mice was frozen with dry ice-methanol for 1 minute. The tail cutting experiment showed that it had a hemostatic effect and reduced the amount of bleeding in mice.

7. Effects on cardiovascular system: Intravenous injection of 0.16-0.26g/kg of Polygonatum sibiricum water extract significantly increased the coronary flow of anesthetized dogs; intravenous injection of 1.5g/kg had an antagonistic effect on myocardial ischemia induced by posterior pituitary hormone in rabbits, counteracted the increase of T wave caused by posterior pituitary hormone, and promoted the early recovery of abnormal T wave; intraperitoneal injection of 12g/kg could enhance the tolerance of mice to hypoxia.

8. Antiviral effect: Polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharide 0.2% eye drops, 6 times/day, or taking Polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharide 10 mg/kg, 2 times/day, has a therapeutic effect on experimental herpes simplex virus keratitis in rabbits.

9. Other effects: Oral administration of 6g/kg of Polygonatum sibiricum decoction for 10 consecutive days can improve the Na+, K+-ATPase activity of mouse erythrocyte membrane. Intraperitoneal injection of 0.3 ml of 40% ethanol extract of Polygonatum sibiricum can increase the incorporation rate of 3H~TdR into the DNA of mouse myocardial, liver and spleen tissue cells. Oral administration of 0.5 g of Polygonatum sibiricum decoction decreased the plasma cAMP and cGMP levels of mice, with cGMP decreasing more, so the cAMP/cGMP ratio was greater than that of the control group. The cAMP and cGMP levels in spleen tissue increased, but there was no obvious change in the cAMP/cGMP ratio.

The main difference between wine-soaked Polygonatum and Polygonatum is that wine-soaked Polygonatum is Polygonatum processed with wine. Polygonatum sibiricum has the effects of replenishing qi and nourishing yin, strengthening the spleen, moistening the lungs, and benefiting the kidneys.

Polygonatum sibiricum enters the spleen, lung, and kidney meridians, replenishes essence, blood, replenishes deficiencies, stops cold and heat, replenishes the middle and benefits qi, nourishes yin, calms the five internal organs, eliminates rheumatism, and replenishes the five labors and seven injuries. It is a very good tonic medicine. However, it is inappropriate to use raw Polygonatum in clinical practice. Raw Polygonatum has a numbing taste. When taken raw, it can numb the mouth and tongue and irritate the throat. The skin that comes into contact with raw Polygonatum or its juice will feel itchy, and the raw odor will feel irritating if smelled for a long time.

How to take Huangjing with wine: After processing, its irritation and side effects are eliminated, the sugar content becomes concentrated and cracked, the taste is good, and it is easy to take. After processing, the medicinal properties of Polygonatum odoratum are changed, which is conducive to the accumulation of effective ingredients. Its mucus is destroyed and removed, making it nourishing but not greasy, and at the same time enhancing the medicinal effect of Polygonatum odoratum. It has the effects of nourishing the kidney and blood, moistening the lungs and promoting body fluid. Used for kidney deficiency, essence deficiency, dizziness, etc.

In addition to being used as medicine and soaked in wine, Polygonatum sibiricum can also be used to make medicinal food, such as Polygonatum sibiricum stewed with lean meat soup, Polygonatum sibiricum and Polygonatum odoratum pork soup, Polygonatum sibiricum and angelica egg soup, Polygonatum sibiricum porridge, Polygonatum sibiricum steamed chicken, etc. Huangjing porridge is effective for yin deficiency and lung dryness, cough and dry throat, weak spleen and stomach. Huangjing steamed chicken is very effective for fatigue, soreness of waist and knees, and fear of cold in winter.
