How long should cervical traction be done?

If people with cervical spondylosis get worse, they need to choose a better treatment method, and traction is a relatively effective form, but how long should cervical traction be done? Traction is a commonly used method to treat this disease. In addition, traction can also be used for lumbar spine diseases. The specific number of times it is required to achieve a cure depends on the severity of the cervical spondylosis, and some people are not suitable for this method.

The main function of cervical traction is to improve the position of neck muscles, intervertebral discs, etc. through physical action to achieve the treatment goal.

Clinically, patients with cervical spondylosis who undergo traction are generally advised to choose a professional medical institution and flexibly develop an individualized diagnosis and treatment plan based on the patient's condition and response to traction therapy.

At present, it is generally believed that a course of traction for patients with cervical spondylosis is 10-20 days; the number of traction times within the course should be 1-2 times/day (for some patients it can be relaxed to 3 times); the recommended time for each traction is generally 20-30 minutes.

Patients with cervical spondylosis should be reminded that:

1. If the symptoms of cervical spondylosis are alleviated or even disappear after traction, do not stop traction immediately. You should continue it for a while to consolidate the therapeutic effect.

2. If the symptoms of cervical spondylosis patients do not improve after 2-3 courses of regular traction, the doctor generally recommends that the patient return for a follow-up visit in a timely manner and consider other treatments.

Reminder again:

1. You should consult a specialist before cervical traction;

2. Cervical traction should be performed in a regular medical institution;

3. Pay attention to the time and intensity of cervical traction.
