Pharmacological effects of processed products

There was a trend towards prolonged sleep time with sodium pentobarbital, but it was not statistically significant. Large doses have a slight tendency to antagonize electroconvulsive disorders. The ig dose of 30ml/kg could significantly inhibit (P<0.05) the effect of 5mg/kg of pilocarpine nitrate on saliva secretion.

Other functions

Antihypertensive effect:

Pinellia extract showed an inhibitory effect on isolated umbilical cord and rabbit heart. Iv has a transient hypotensive effect on dogs, cats and rabbits and has rapid tolerance. The decoction had a mild stimulating effect on the adrenal cortex function of mice when administered ig. If the drug is administered continuously, it can cause functional inhibition.

Coagulation effect:

Pinellia protein is also a plant lectin. It has specific hemagglutination activity with rabbit red blood cells and can still have agglutination effect at a concentration as low as 2μg per 1ml. In addition to immune red blood cells, it also has an agglutinating effect on the red blood cells of sheep, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rats, mice and pigeons. However, it does not agglutinate the red blood cells of humans, monkeys, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, turtles, toads, and eels. Pinellia ternata protein is the only known protein that acts as a lectin and only binds to mannose but not glucose.

In addition to red blood cells, Pinellia protein also agglutinates other cells, including mouse spleen cells, human liver cancer cells (QGY7703-3 and 7402), Ehrlich ascites carcinoma and ascites-type liver cancer cells. However, it does not agglutinate rat epididymis and porcine omental adipocytes, although it can bind to these two types of cells. This suggests that the cell agglutination effect of Pinellia ternata protein is not only animal species specific but also cell type specific.

Cell division

The cell division-promoting effect of Pinellia protein is also animal species specific. It promotes the transformation of rabbit peripheral blood lymphocytes but does not promote the division of human peripheral blood lymphocytes.
