Causes of myocardial ischemia

Causes of myocardial ischemia

The continuous improvement of modern people's living standards has brought us convenient life and unprecedented material wealth, which is undeniable. However, with the increasing pressure of work and carelessness in eating, the resulting increase in affluence diseases such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes, etc., coupled with smoking, obesity, reduced physical activity, advanced age, etc., has caused the incidence of myocardial ischemia to increase year by year.

Myocardial ischemia refers to a decrease in blood perfusion to the heart, which causes a lack of oxygen to the heart, preventing the myocardium from metabolizing normally and causing the heart to fail to function normally. As we all know, the heart is an important organ of ours and is indispensable for maintaining normal life. If the heart cannot work normally, it will affect our daily life at the very least, and may even cause our death at the worst. Next, let’s explore the causes of myocardial ischemia.

The main and most common cause of myocardial ischemia is coronary artery stenosis. The main cause of coronary artery stenosis is atherosclerosis. The heart disease caused by coronary atherosclerosis is commonly known as coronary heart disease. Therefore, coronary heart disease is the "culprit" of myocardial ischemia.

Secondly, there are many other diseases, such as inflammation (rheumatic, syphilitic, Kawasaki disease and thromboangiitis obliterans, etc.), spasm, embolism, connective tissue diseases, trauma and congenital malformations. Epidemiological studies have found that important risk factors associated with atherosclerosis are hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, obesity, elevated homocysteine, lack of physical activity, advanced age, and male gender.

The above are the causes of myocardial ischemia. If you have myocardial ischemia, you should pay special attention to your daily diet, low in fat, low in sugar, and high in fiber. You should not be too happy or too sad. You should also develop good living habits and maintain good and sufficient sleep.
