Keratolysis exfoliativa

Keratolysis exfoliativa

Have you ever heard of exfoliative keratolysis? I believe many people do not know about this disease, let alone its symptoms. Exfoliative keratolysis is a skin disease. It is a familial disease and is very easy to occur, especially in spring and summer. At the beginning, white punctate blisters will appear, which will continue to expand if not treated in time.

Exfoliative keratolysis usually occurs symmetrically on the palms and soles. The disease progresses slowly, and there are no obvious symptoms at the beginning. It will usually heal on its own after 2-3 weeks. It is more likely to occur in spring and summer, and will be relieved in autumn.

Exfoliative keratolysis is a superficial exfoliative skin disease of the stratum corneum of the palms and soles. The cause is unknown. In the early stage, it appears as millet-sized white spots, which gradually expand to the surrounding areas, similar to blister membranes with dried blister fluid. They can easily rupture naturally or be torn into thin paper-like scales. There is no obvious inflammatory change and no itching. It occurs symmetrically on the palms, and in a few cases, it affects the soles of the feet.

The cause of exfoliative keratolysis is still unclear. Some believe that it is an autosomal recessive genetic disease, while others believe that it is related to sweating dysfunction and autonomic nervous dysfunction. This disease is often complicated by dyshidrosis, and is more common in spring and summer or autumn and winter. Low-concentration keratolysis or mild lubricants can be used for treatment.

The main symptoms of exfoliative keratolysis are scattered white punctate blisters the size of pinheads. The number of blisters varies, gradually expanding to the periphery and rupturing in the center to form superficial desquamation. Most lesions expand and may merge into paper-thin epidermal exfoliations. The skin under the exfoliated epidermis is almost completely normal and often occurs symmetrically on the palms and soles.

The treatment of exfoliative keratolysis is relatively simple. You can apply urea ointment, vitamin E ointment, vaseline ointment or other oily ointments to the cracked and peeling skin. The former can soften the stratum corneum, while the latter can moisturize and protect. It should be applied frequently after healing as a hand care.

After the introduction of exfoliative keratolysis, everyone should now have an understanding of this skin disease. When this skin disease occurs, it should be treated with medication in time, and ointment should be applied to the symptomatic areas. You should eat more foods high in vitamin A. Patients should also drink more water and do a good job of daily care, and they will recover soon.
