What is sepsis?

What is sepsis? We have heard of sepsis, but we may not understand the conditions under which this disease occurs. What adverse physical conditions will occur after suffering from sepsis? Regardless of how serious this disease is, let’s take a look at the relevant knowledge, which will be helpful for us to treat sepsis.

We should not be careless about what sepsis is. After this disease occurs, the body will have a persistent high fever, or a general feeling of coldness, or even shivering all over. There are many causes of sepsis. Many carelessness in life can lead to the occurrence of sepsis. I hope we can pay more attention and treat the disease in time.

Sepsis is caused by the invasion of pathogenic bacteria into the blood circulation. There are generally two ways for bacteria to invade the blood circulation. One is through wounds on the skin or mucous membranes; the other is through purulent lesions such as boils, abscesses, tonsillitis, and otitis media. Patients with malnutrition, anemia, diabetes and cirrhosis are more susceptible to sepsis due to their reduced resistance. After the pathogenic bacteria enter the blood, they grow and multiply rapidly and produce a large amount of toxins, causing many symptoms of poisoning.

Patients often suddenly develop high fever, fear of chills, shivering, headache, dizziness, heavy sweating, and body-wide joint pains. Severe patients may experience shortness of breath, irritability, and even coma or shock. The bacteria also circulate throughout the body through the blood, causing damage to many tissues and organs, and can cause meningitis, osteomyelitis, lung abscess, liver abscess, etc., increasing the risk of sepsis. Sepsis is a very serious disease with a high mortality rate, so prevention should be taken seriously. After skin or mucous membrane trauma, the wound must be disinfected to prevent bacteria from invading the blood; dental caries, tonsillitis, otitis media and other diseases must be treated promptly. If you have boils on your skin, especially on your face, you should not squeeze them hard to prevent bacteria from being squeezed into your blood vessels.

What exactly is sepsis? After the above introduction, we have already learned about it. After this type of sepsis occurs, the incidence of malnutrition, anemia, and diabetes is also very high. This disease itself is difficult to treat, so if it is not treated in time, the harmful factors caused will be very great. We must know this.
