Urine test pH

Urine test pH

Urine test is a common examination method in daily life. It is the abbreviation of urine test. It is mainly a way to check if there are abnormalities in the patients. Generally, it is mainly manifested in the clinical manifestations of the patients' kidney function and some abnormalities in the urine. Therefore, the inspection and investigation are mainly some retention and analysis. The normal reference value is between 5.5 and 7.0, usually around 6.5.

The pH value of urine test is mainly some acidosis, diabetes and gout or taking medicine three times. The urine test is greater than the normal value. It is mainly for weight loss, cystitis and some internal explanations of the many drugs. Therefore, the pH in daily life is also a key test method for the balance of the body.

The kidneys are involved in regulating the body's acid-base balance, and this regulatory ability can be reflected by urine pH. Due to the excessive production of endogenous acid, the pH of urine is generally acidic, about 5.0 to 6.0. Generally speaking, the "alkaline tide" phenomenon will occur after a meal, and the urine will be alkaline; acidic urine is more common in eating too much meat and certain types of fruits (such as cranberries), metabolic acidosis, respiratory acidosis, and the use of stone-excreting drugs (such as calcium carbonate); alkaline urine is more common in eating vegetarian food and citrus fruits, metabolic alkali poisoning, respiratory alkali poisoning, some kidney diseases (such as renal tubular acidosis), etc.

pH testing requires a fresh urine sample. If urine is left for too long, most bacteria can decompose urea and release ammonia, making the urine alkaline. But sometimes the opposite happens; the carbonate buffer in the urine releases CO2, which escapes into the air and increases the urine pH.

A rapid urine screening test is performed using multiple test strips, also known as a routine urine test. Dipstick methodology is a simple and rapid urine screening method. Currently, routine urine test strip examination items include pH, protein, occult blood, specific gravity, glucose, and ketone bodies. Urobilinogen, nitrate, leukocytes, and some test strips also include bilirubin and vitamin C [3-5].

Although the urine test strip method is quick and simple, it can only play a qualitative and semi-quantitative role due to methodological limitations. The test results may have false positives and false negatives, and the results are affected by many factors.

The above is the pH value of urine test. The normal reference value is between 5.5 and 7.0, and is generally around 6.5. The pH value of urine test is mainly higher than normal value for some acidosis, diabetes and gout, or urine test after taking medicine three times. It is mainly a common examination method for some common diseases caused by weight loss, cystitis and side effects of some drugs.
