Nursing care for burn patients

Nursing care for burn patients

People cannot live without fire, and as the saying goes: water can carry a boat, but it can also capsize it. If fire is not controlled well, it can easily become a tool for hurting people. Moreover, there are many things in life that can easily cause burns. However, no matter what causes the burns, patients must pay attention to daily care to avoid leaving scars on their bodies after the burns heal.

When it comes to burns, timely treatment is far from enough. According to the size of the burn area and the severity of the symptoms, burns are clinically divided into different levels. The more serious the burns, the more attention should be paid to relevant care during treatment. The specific nursing measures for burn patients are as follows:

(1) Ensure adequate sleep.

(2) Pay attention to the prevention of pressure ulcers. Massage the areas that are frequently under pressure with 50% ethanol every day.

(3) To prevent cross infection, clean the floor and furniture with disinfectant.

(4) Posture care guidance after burns. Patients with burns on the front chest or face should lie in the supine position, or in the semi-recumbent position if the condition permits; patients with burns on the back and buttocks should lie in the prone position; patients with burns on the perineum should have their legs spread apart and abducted; patients with circumferential burns on the limbs should have the distal ends elevated; patients with circumferential burns on the trunk should be turned over every 3-6 hours.

(5) Dietary care: It is advisable to eat high-protein, high-calorie, and high-vitamin foods. In the early stage of burns, such as patients with heat damage to body fluids, burn drinks can be given, 100-200 ml each time, 5-6 times a day. You can also use fresh reed root, fresh cangxie, and honeysuckle to boil water instead of tea;

Nutritional feeding includes clear liquid food, mixed milk, and elemental diet. Initially, 200-400 ml of clear liquid food should be given every day, and the amount can be gradually increased later. For patients with severe toxic heat, the diet should be light, with small meals and frequent meals. Milk, eggs, tofu, lean meat and peony foods can be chosen. For patients with retreat of evil and deficiency of body function, their eating habits should be taken into consideration, and a diversified diet should be given, with a high-calorie, high-vitamin, and high-protein diet.

(6) Strengthen functional exercise and do it every day without interruption to prevent atrophy and deformity of the scar.

(7) Choose an appropriate time to undergo plastic surgery according to the doctor’s instructions.

After knowing the care measures for burn patients, for all burn patients, please be sure to follow the above care methods, especially for patients with severe burns. In order to recover as soon as possible, you must pay attention to daily care. In order to avoid burns, please pay attention to fire prevention in normal times.
