Signs of diabetes

Signs of diabetes

Diabetes is a very common disease in our lives, and the occurrence of this disease is mostly related to the patient's lifestyle habits. Many people's lives are getting better and better, and they have no restraint in their diet and daily routine. Long-term consumption of meat and fish can easily lead to the onset of diabetes. To know how to protect your own health, you must understand the signs of diabetes so that you can receive timely treatment.

Many people understand that Chinese medicine is the best way to cure diseases at the earliest stage. The same is true for diabetes. If it can be detected early, it will be very helpful for treatment. Knowing the signs of diabetes will help you better understand your physical condition.

The following symptoms may be signs of diabetes:

Painless myocardial infarction Diabetes can affect the heart's nerves, myocardium, and blood vessels, leading to coronary artery sclerosis and causing myocardial infarction. During myocardial infarction, 24%-42% of people have no pain response due to the degeneration of pain nerves. For those who experience painless myocardial infarction, or unexplained arrhythmias or heart failure, diabetes should be considered as the possible cause.

Impotence Male sexual function is controlled and regulated by the autonomic nervous system. Diabetic patients suffer from impotence due to reduced or lost autonomic nervous function. Patients with impotence, especially middle-aged and obese patients with impotence, should consider the possibility of diabetes.

Data on rapidly developing pulmonary tuberculosis show that approximately 10%-15% of diabetic patients suffer from pulmonary tuberculosis. Because the patient's resistance is reduced and the high-sugar environment is conducive to the growth and reproduction of tuberculosis bacteria, tuberculosis lesions are prone to spread and worsen. Therefore, tuberculosis patients, especially middle-aged and elderly patients, should have their blood sugar further checked if their condition is severe, progresses rapidly, and the treatment effect is poor.

Sudden vision loss: The lens of diabetic patients will swell and become convex due to the infiltration of water, increasing the refractive power and causing myopia. It can also cause blurred vision due to optic nerve damage and fundus vascular lesions, retinal vein dilation, bleeding, and even detachment. For those who experience sudden and rapid worsening of myopia and blurred vision, blood sugar should be checked.

Rapidly developing cataracts The changes in the osmotic pressure in the aqueous humor of diabetic patients cause the lens fibers to swell, break, and disintegrate, and finally become turbid and form cataracts. The patient's vision will rapidly deteriorate, and he may even become blind. When cataracts occur suddenly and develop rapidly, you should be aware that it may be caused by diabetes.

Postprandial hypoglycemia In the early stages of diabetes, the insulin secretion process is slow. When it reaches its peak, the postprandial blood sugar peak has passed, and a hypoglycemia reaction will occur, manifested as dizziness, blurred vision, palpitations, and even coma 3-5 hours after a meal. People who repeatedly experience postprandial hypoglycemia should be alert to the possibility of diabetes.

Urinary retention, urinary incontinence, and "pneumaturia" high blood sugar can damage the pelvic nervous system, leading to decreased detrusor muscle tension, difficulty urinating or urinary retention. When the bladder sphincter is paralyzed, urinary incontinence occurs. Urine containing sugar is prone to the growth of gas-producing bacteria, and the excreted urine is foamy, which is called "gas urine". Anyone who has the above-mentioned urination abnormalities, especially those with unknown causes, should have their blood sugar checked.

Numbness of the extremities. Sugar metabolism disorders are often complicated by peripheral neuritis, with numbness of the hands and feet, decreased or absent sensation, and walking as if walking on a cotton pad. Such symptoms occur in 40% of diabetic patients. Therefore, people with unexplained numbness in their hands and feet should have their blood sugar checked.

Shoulder pain and stiffness. Sugar metabolism disorders can lead to arteriosclerosis and neuritis, causing pathological changes in the nerves and muscle tissue around the shoulder joint, resulting in shoulder pain, stiffness, and difficulty in raising the hand and turning the shoulder. Therefore, people who suffer from shoulder discomfort that does not heal for a long time should check their blood sugar.

Persistent or intermittent diarrhea Diabetic patients are prone to pancreatic diarrhea, which is characterized by: 2-10 bowel movements per day, often occurring after meals, at night or early in the morning; the stool is mushy or watery, or manifests as fatty diarrhea; diarrhea may alternate with constipation. Diarrhea with the above characteristics, especially steatorrhea, should be tested for diabetes.

Persistent infections: The defense and phagocytic ability of white blood cells in diabetic patients is reduced, and high sugar levels are conducive to the growth of pathogenic bacteria, which often cause infections in the skin, mouth, lungs, urinary tract, vagina and other organs. Therefore, patients with recurrent infections, persistent infections, and poor treatment responses should have their urine sugar and blood sugar checked.

Skin blisters Abnormal sugar metabolism leads to skin nutritional disorders and microvascular damage, causing skin blisters, which are characterized by: they are prone to occur on the backs of fingers, toes, hands and feet; they appear singly or multiple times, in varying sizes; the blister walls are thin and contain transparent serous fluid; they are painless, with a red halo around the blister; they occur suddenly, can heal on their own, but recur repeatedly. Therefore, blood sugar should be checked for those who suffer from recurrent burn-like skin blisters.

The above is an introduction to the knowledge about the signs of diabetes. I hope everyone can be alert after reading it. Your physical health is your own. Others cannot help you understand your body. Only you know it best. If you feel unwell in your life, you should go to a regular hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible.
