Herpes simplex encephalitis

Herpes simplex encephalitis

The human brain is a very important part of the human body. Everything people do in their daily lives requires the brain to send instructions to various parts of the body. If there is a problem with the brain, it will affect other parts of the body, as well as the person's memory, speech and language functions, and limb functions. Herpes encephalitis is a relatively common encephalitis. As we all know, herpes itself is a contagious skin disease, and herpes encephalitis is relatively more serious.

Generally, children suffer from encephalitis due to viral infection, while adults may suffer from encephalitis due to previous herpes cases. But no matter what, if you get this disease, you need to seek treatment in time. So today I will tell you about the treatment methods.

1. Antiviral treatment: The first choice is intravenous infusion of acyclovir solution, once every 8 hours, for a course of 10 days.

2. High-dose hormones (hydrocortisone or dexamethasone) and 20% mannitol intravenous drip can reduce intracranial pressure and alleviate cerebral edema, and subtemporalis decompression surgery can be performed if necessary.

3. Those with high fever, convulsions, mental confusion, and restlessness should be given physical cooling, anticonvulsion, and sedative treatment.

4. For those in coma, attention should be paid to maintaining a clear airway, water and electrolyte balance, nutrition, oral hygiene, and prevention of bedsores, lung and urinary tract infections. Small doses of blood, human albumin or compound amino acids can be transfused.

5. Use interferon, transfer factor and immunoglobulin to enhance immunity.

6. During the recovery period, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, etc. can help limb function.

The above is an introduction to the treatment methods for herpes simplex virus encephalitis. Different treatments can be given according to the different symptoms of the patients. However, it is recommended not to blindly treat yourself. You should go to the hospital for examination in time to determine what treatment method should be used.
