Pinellia is a traditional Chinese medicine. We usually use it for medicinal purposes. The medicinal properties and efficacy of Pinellia are that it can play a role in expectoration, and it can stop vomiting. Pinellia can also suppress cough, so friends who have cough can use Pinellia to treat it. Pinellia can treat ulcers and protect our stomach. Pinellia is also very helpful for our blood. Pinellia can treat abnormal heart rate. Pinellia can play an anticoagulant role, so arteriosclerosis can be treated with Pinellia. The medicinal properties of Pinellia ternata are very comprehensive. Many diseases can be treated or assisted in treatment with Pinellia ternata. Pinellia ternata is very easy to obtain in our daily life, so only when we understand the effects and functions of Pinellia ternata, we will naturally know how to make good use of this Chinese medicine. Pinellia ternata (scientific name: Pinellia ternata), also known as ground paper and shoutian, belongs to the Araceae order. It is widely distributed in China's Yangtze River Basin, Northeast China, North China and other regions. A medicinal plant with the functions of drying dampness and resolving phlegm, relieving adverse reactions and stopping vomiting. It can eliminate carbuncle and swelling when used raw. It is used by veterinarians to treat lockjaw. It is also distributed in Tibet, at an altitude of about 3000m. Pharmacological Action Respiratory system effects 1. Antitussive: The alkaloids in Pinellia can inhibit the cough center and produce an antitussive effect. Intravenous injection of decoction of raw pinellia, ginger pinellia and French pinellia has a significant antitussive effect on cough caused by injection of iodine solution into the chest cavity of cats or electrical stimulation of the superior laryngeal nerve. The antitussive effect of 0.6g/kg is close to that of 1mg/kg of codeine. 2. Expectorant: Intraperitoneal injection of Pinellia ternata decoction into rats can significantly inhibit the effect of pilocarpine on saliva secretion. Mice were gavaged with ethanol extracts of raw pinellia and clear pinellia. The phenol red method showed that the ethanol extract of clear pinellia had a certain expectorant effect, while no obvious effect was observed for raw pinellia. Research by Zou Jilong and others shows that the longer the Pinellia is stored, the stronger its expectorant effect is. Digestive system function 1. Antiemetic and emetic: Processed Pinellia can activate the efferent activity of the vagus nerve and have an antiemetic effect, while raw Pinellia can "induce vomiting" and "stir the throat". Pinellia ternata can prolong the latency period of copper sulfate-induced vomiting in dogs or prevent vomiting, and can antagonize vomiting in dogs induced by subcutaneous injection of dehydrated morphine hydrochloride. This effect is not affected by Chuanwu. 2. Anti-ulcer effect: The decoction of Pinellia ternata in water and alcohol precipitation can reduce the secretion of gastric juice, lower the free acidity and total acidity of gastric juice, inhibit the activity of pepsin, protect the gastric mucosa, and promote the repair of the gastric mucosa. It has the effect of resisting pyloric ligation ulcer, indomethacin ulcer and stress ulcer in rats. 3. Effect on liver and gallbladder: Pinellia can promote bile secretion in rabbits, increase corticosterone in the blood of mice, enhance the induction effect of corticosterone on tyrosine aminotransferase in the liver, and increase the activity of tyrosine aminotransferase in the liver. Circulatory system function 1. Antiarrhythmic effect: Intravenous injection of Pinellia ternata extract to dogs can make the ventricular premature beats caused by barium chloride disappear quickly and prevent recurrence, with an effective rate of 97%. It can quickly convert ventricular tachycardia caused by adrenaline into sinus rhythm, with an effective rate of 96%. 2. Anticoagulant effect: Pinellia has a significant effect in lowering triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein, can reduce whole blood viscosity, inhibit red blood cell aggregation and improve the deformability of red blood cells. Pinellia ternata protein is the only known protein with lectin function that binds only to mannitol and not to glucose. It has specific hemagglutination activity with rabbit red blood cells and still has agglutination effect at a concentration as low as 12μg/mL. In addition, Pinellia protein also has an agglutinating effect on the red blood cells of sheep, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rats, mice and pigeons, but has no agglutinating effect on the red blood cells of humans, monkeys, pigs, chickens, ducks, toads, etc. Tip: The cell agglutination effect of Pinellia ternata protein is not only animal species specific but also cell type specific. Above we introduced a kind of Chinese medicine, Pinellia ternata. Its effects and functions are very comprehensive. Basically, many diseases can be treated or assisted in treatment by Pinellia ternata. Pinellia ternata can resist stress, fight tumors, and treat diseases such as abnormal heart rate and gastric ulcers. Therefore, understanding the effects and functions of Pinellia ternata will be helpful for our future health and wellness. |
