What causes mumps?

Mumps is a common disease in our human body. This disease can occur in people of all ages, and is generally more common in children and teenagers, and relatively less common in adults. In fact, this type of mumps should strictly be considered an infectious disease, and it is generally caused by the mumps virus. The incidence rate of this type of mumps is also very high, and this virus can invade many organs of the human body.

We encounter a lot of diseases in our lives, and many of them are infectious, such as tuberculosis, influenza, etc. These are all contagious, and the targets of transmission are also not fixed. The mumps mentioned above is also an infectious disease, and the target of transmission is not fixed. Let’s talk about the specific causes of mumps.

Mumps is divided into two types: acute suppurative and epidemic. Mumps is caused by bacterial infection, mainly staphylococci. The common causes are: 1. decreased secretory function of the parotid gland, which is more common in patients with acute infectious diseases and debilitated patients; 2. obstruction of the parotid duct orifice; 3. inflammation of the parotid gland adjacent tissues; symptoms include fever, leukocytosis, local redness, swelling, pain and heat of the parotid gland. When the lesion enters the suppurative stage, pus can be seen flowing out of the duct orifice by squeezing the parotid gland. Viral mumps is usually called epidemic parotitis (mumps), also known as "mumps". It is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by the mumps virus invading the parotid gland. It can occur throughout the year, but is more common in winter and spring. It mostly occurs in children with a history of infectious contact during childhood or adolescence, with a higher incidence in children aged 4 to 15 years. The symptoms in adults are often more severe than in children. It can be bilateral or unilaterally affected, and the white blood cell count does not increase but decreases or becomes normal. The local symptoms are similar to those of suppurative disease, but there is no suppuration. After contracting the disease once, you can have lasting immunity. The prominent symptom is non-purulent swelling and pain of the parotid gland. The virus can invade various glandular tissues or the nervous system and almost all organs such as the liver, kidneys, heart, and joints. Therefore, complications such as meningoencephalitis, cardiomyopathy, orchitis, pancreatitis, mastitis, and oophoritis may often occur.

Therefore, through the detailed introduction in the above article, we also know some of the causes of mumps. There are many causes of mumps. The most common causes include the decline of parotid secretory function, blockage of the parotid duct opening, etc. These main causes are also the ones that are more difficult to overcome. I hope that through the above introduction, everyone can cure mumps as soon as possible.
