Interpreting the causes of dermatomyositis from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine

Many diseases are completely different when viewed from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine and from the perspective of Western medicine, so we must make a distinction when choosing a treatment method. For example, the treatment of dermatomyositis from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine is completely different from that of Western medicine, because traditional Chinese medicine has a completely different view on the cause of dermatomyositis from that of Western medicine.

So how do we interpret the cause of dermatomyositis from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine? If we interpret the cause of dermatomyositis from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, we will believe that dermatomyositis is caused by yin deficiency in the body, blood stasis and heat blocking the collaterals, or long-term illness leading to weakness.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, some of the causes of dermatomyositis can be roughly divided into yin deficiency, blood stasis and heat blocking the collaterals, and long-term illness leading to deficiency.

During treatment, treatment should be based on syndrome differentiation. If treatment is blindly carried out, there will be no good effect, and long-term treatment will not be effective, which will cause great harm to the body.

1. Yin deficiency

The disease is more common due to congenital deficiency of true yin and excessive fire due to yin deficiency, especially in women, where yin is often insufficient.

At the beginning of the disease, Yin is insufficient and Yang is excessive, which causes internal heat. Subsequently, the internal heat evil consumes Qi and damages Yin, resulting in both Qi and Yin deficiency, and the heat evil is strong inside the body, which runs through the whole process. Severe heat damages body fluids, causing muscles, tendons and bones to lose nourishment and lead to numbness.

2. Stasis and heat blocking the collaterals

Heat in the blood causes urgency, while cold blood causes coolness. Regardless of whether it is due to Yin deficiency or Yang excess, it will lead to blood heat stagnation and blood stasis and heat blocking the collaterals.

Then the muscles will be swollen and painful, the skin will be red, the eyes and face will be purple, the body will be hot and thirsty, the heart will be irritable, the body will feel heavy and weak, etc., which will damage the yin and blood, and damage the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys, resulting in a variety of symptoms.

3. Long-term illness leads to weakness

Long-term illness that does not heal, or long-term excessive use of warm and dry products, or long-term use of hormones, the drug toxicity turns into heat, the severe heat consumes Qi and damages Yin, water cannot control fire, and the virtual fire accumulates inside the body. If the disease does not heal for a long time, it will affect the spleen and kidneys.

The spleen controls the muscles and limbs, and the kidneys are the organ that strengthens the limbs. If the spleen and kidneys are deficient, the skin will be insensitive, the muscles will be weak and powerless, and the person will fail to perform his duties. If the qi and blood are deficient, the muscles will be malnourished and will atrophy and become emaciated.

In the above, we introduced that there is a big difference between looking at diseases from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine and that of Western medicine. Therefore, if we use traditional Chinese medicine to treat diseases, we must look at the cause from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine. In the above, we introduced in detail how to interpret the cause of dermatomyositis from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine.
