What to do if a pregnant woman cuts her hand

Women should pay special attention to their bodies during pregnancy. If they are in good physical condition, they can provide sufficient nutrition to the fetus and allow the fetus to grow healthily in the mother's body. If a woman becomes ill during pregnancy, she rarely takes medicine, mainly because some medicines may have an impact on the fetus. In order to allow the fetus to grow healthily, pregnant women can only endure it. What should I do if a pregnant woman cuts her hand?

1. Can pregnant women use Band-Aids on their cut hands?

Band-Aids are external dressings that have hemostatic and wound-protecting functions. They are used on minor wounds, abrasions and other affected areas to help prevent the invasion of bacteria and foreign matter, keep wounds clean, prevent wound infection and accelerate wound healing.

Band-Aids are not a panacea and are not suitable for all injuries. Generally speaking, Band-Aids are mainly used for small and shallow wounds, especially for cuts that are neat, clean, do not bleed much and do not require sutures, such as knife cuts, cuts, glass scratches, etc.

Pregnant women can use Band-Aids. They are external medicines and will not cause harm to the fetus in the womb. However, it should also be noted that it is not advisable to use Band-Aids on larger, deeper wounds that contain foreign objects. In this case, you should go to the hospital for treatment in a timely manner. It is not advisable to use Band-Aids on contaminated or infected wounds, such as severe skin abrasions, burns, etc. As for folliculitis, boils, purulent infected wounds and various skin diseases, it is even more inappropriate to use Band-Aids.

2. Precautions for pregnant women to take medicine

1. Penicillin: relatively safe, including broad-spectrum penicillins such as piperacillin. Oral administration, intramuscular injection, and intravenous infusion can all be used for pregnant women. Warning: Use according to the recommended dosage and do not exceed the recommended dosage.

2. Erythromycin: Other similar drugs include erythromycin and roxithromycin. They have a large molecular weight and are not easy to pass through the placenta to reach the fetus. They can be used by people who are allergic to penicillin. They are the first choice for chlamydia and mycoplasma infections.

3. Cephalosporin: Current data show that it has no teratogenic effect.

Tips: Report Card for Dangerous Antibiotics

Some antibiotics are not recommended for use by pregnant women due to their different toxic side effects. Common ones include:

① Tetracycline: It can cause yellow-brown pigmentation of teeth, or be stored in the bones of the fetus. It can also cause acute fatty liver and renal insufficiency in pregnant women.

②Gentamicin: Kanamycin, Gentomycin, etc. can cause damage to the fetal auditory nerve and kidney.

③Chloramphenicol: causes gray baby syndrome.

④ Co-trimoxazole, enhanced-effect sulfamethoxazole tablets, can cause neonatal jaundice and can also antagonize folic acid.

⑤ Furanocholine: It is often used by women suffering from urinary tract infections. It should be used with caution because it can cause hemolysis.

⑥ Vancomycin: Although there are no reports of danger to the fetus, it has nephrotoxic and ototoxic effects on pregnant women.

⑦Ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, and chlorpheniramine: irreversible arthritis occurred in dog experiments.

⑧Anti-tuberculosis drugs: When using, consider the pros and cons and consult your doctor based on your own situation.

⑨ Antifungal drugs: clotrimazole, nystatin, griseofulvin. Pregnant women should not use them.

⑩ Antiviral drugs: Not recommended for use in pregnant women.

4. Metronidazole: insecticide, used to treat Trichomonas infection, it is recommended not to use it during early pregnancy.

5. Spiramycin: Treats toxoplasmosis infection and has no adverse effects on the fetus.

6. Anthelmintics: They can cause teratogenic effects in animals and should be used with caution.

7. Digoxin: A cardiotonic drug that easily crosses the placenta and has no obvious adverse effects on the fetus. It can be used by pregnant women with heart failure.

8. β-receptor blockers: There are reports of causing fetal growth retardation.

9. Antihypertensive drugs: Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors such as captopril and angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as losartan are contraindicated for pregnant women because of their clear teratogenic effects. Other types of antihypertensive drugs such as calcium ion antagonists (representative drug cyclophosphamide) may cause decreased uterine blood flow. Diuretics administered near term may cause neonatal thrombocytopenia and should be used with caution. Acetazolamide has been shown to cause limb malformations in drug experiments and should not be used by pregnant women.
