What are the effects of moxibustion in treating tracheitis?

Moxibustion is a commonly used treatment method in clinical Chinese medicine. It has the same effect as acupuncture and can achieve complementary therapeutic effects together with acupuncture during the treatment process. Its main effects are warming the meridians, tonifying the collaterals, and invigorating the middle and replenishing Qi. In addition, moxibustion has a very good therapeutic and alleviating effect on respiratory system diseases such as bronchitis and pharyngitis. The following will explain to you the specific treatment methods.

Inflammation of the trachea is called tracheitis, and long-term unhealed tracheitis is called chronic tracheitis. It is a common disease among middle-aged and elderly people. The main causes of the disease are: smoking, catching cold, cold, inhaling dust, climate change, air pollution, etc. The main symptom is cough. The early symptoms are mild, mostly occurring in winter and relieved after the spring. In the late stage, the inflammation worsens and the symptoms exist all year round, regardless of the season. It starts with a dry cough, which then gradually produces more sputum. In mild cases, there is only an irritating cough in the morning and evening, while in severe cases, there is obvious coughing and spitting, and breathing may be accompanied by wheezing.

When treating tracheitis with moxibustion, the point to be used should be the Tanzhong point on the Ren meridian. Danzhong point is an important acupuncture point on the Ren meridian, which has the functions of regulating Qi, relaxing the chest and regulating Qi, clearing the lungs and stopping wheezing, and relaxing the mind. The patient lies half-supine on the bed, covers the area below the chest with a towel, exposing the area to be moxibustioned and lies down relaxed. Aim the lit moxa stick at the Tanzhong point and fumigate and burn it using the techniques of spiraling, hanging, and burning. Moxibustion should be performed until the local skin becomes flushed and heat penetrates into the chest.

Through the above introduction to the method of moxibustion treatment of tracheitis, I believe everyone must have a deeper understanding of moxibustion and the treatment of tracheitis. Tracheitis is a respiratory disease that causes serious damage to the body. Patients with tracheitis should maintain good eating and living habits in their daily lives, and must stay away from various allergens to avoid acute attacks of tracheitis.
