Fsh is a hormone whose main component is glycoprotein, which can be combined with luteinizing hormone to form gonadotropin. Clinically, fsh is believed to be able to fully reflect a person's fertility. Many people believe that fsh will increase the possibility of infertility. Is this really the case? Will fsh affect a person's fertility? What causes high fsh? Is it possible to conceive naturally if fsh is too high? What is FSH FSH is the abbreviation of follicle-stimulating hormone. It is a hormone secreted by the alkaliphilic cells of the anterior pituitary gland. It is composed of glycoprotein. Together with luteinizing hormone, it is collectively called gonadotropin. It mainly acts on the proliferation and differentiation of the granulosa cells of the follicles, promotes the growth of the entire ovary, thereby promoting the maturation of follicles and acts on the testicles and seminiferous tubules to stimulate sperm production. In short, the FSH value will directly reflect the fertility of both men and women. FSH levels FSH levels refer to follicle-stimulating hormone levels, a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles. High FSH levels may indicate diminished ovarian reserve, or fewer eggs remaining, and FSH levels can affect the success of fertility treatments. During a woman's normal reproductive years, FSH is between 1.7-8.5mu/mI. When the FSH concentration exceeds 10, it indicates that the ovarian function is declining. If it exceeds 15, it means that the ovaries have lost their ovulatory function and targeted treatment should be initiated as soon as possible through in vitro fertilization in the United States. If you’re unsure of your FSH levels or notice that they fluctuate between cycles, you can also test your anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH). AMH is considered a more accurate predictor of ovarian reserve because it does not fluctuate as dramatically as FSH. If your FSH levels are normal, there is a good chance that you will respond well to ovarian stimulation, a treatment in which ovulation medications are given to help stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. If your FSH levels are elevated, you may produce fewer eggs during stimulation. Effects of high FSH If FSH levels are abnormally high, it may mean that the follicles are running out, often referred to as diminished ovarian reserve. Without any follicles capable of developing into mature eggs, pregnancy is unlikely. If you have elevated FSH levels, are under 40, and have irregular periods, your ovaries may not be working properly. When the ovaries fail earlier than expected at age, it is called premature ovarian failure (POF). Because loss of ovarian function leads to abnormally low estrogen levels, women with premature ovarian failure are rarely able to conceive naturally. In summary, FSH is very important for judging women's ovarian function and fertility, so it has become one of the necessary examinations before an IVF cycle in the United States. Please note that there are time regulations for FSH tests for women. Generally, the test needs to be done on the 2nd to 3rd day of the menstrual cycle. The test results at other times cannot be used as a reference. If you plan to have in vitro fertilization in the United States, please arrange the necessary examinations as early as possible. |
