[Case Verification] This prescription was used to treat 16 patients with chronic pyelonephritis, and all were cured. Among them, 4 cases took only 12 doses of medicine, 1 case took 80 doses of medicine, and most cases recovered after 15 to 20 doses of medicine. Motherwort and Lobelia in Treating Chronic Nephritis

[Ingredients of the folk prescription] 30 grams each of Leonurus japonicus and Lobelia chinensis, 12-30 grams of Rehmannia glutinosa, 6 grams each of jujube peel and moutan bark, 12 grams each of Poria cocos, Alisma orientalis and Chinese yam.

[Usage and Dosage] Take 1 dose daily, decocted in water and taken in 2 doses.

[Additions and Subtractions] If the urine is yellow, add 30 grams of Imperata root; if there is low back pain, add 15 grams of Dipsacus asper, 12 grams each of Eucommia ulmoides and Achyranthes bidentata; if the tongue coating is yellow and greasy, the pulse is slippery and rapid, the urine is less and yellow, and other symptoms of dampness and heat are severe, add 10 grams of Phellodendron chinense and 30 grams of Herba Pteris Corydalis; if the patient has kidney yang deficiency, add 10 grams of Aconite root; if the patient has spleen deficiency, poor appetite and loose stools, add 12-30 grams of Euryale ferox and 12 grams of Lotus seed; if the patient has qi deficiency, add 12-30 grams of Astragalus membranaceus and 12 grams of Codonopsis pilosula.
