Why does miscarriage occur?

I believe that many women are looking forward to having a child after they become pregnant. However, many women cannot accept the fact that they have a miscarriage for unknown reasons. So why does miscarriage occur?

There are many reasons for miscarriage, and pregnant women usually want to know the truth from their obstetrician and gynecologist as soon as possible. In addition to some unknown reasons, the general causes of miscarriage are as follows:

Abnormal embryonic development

This is the most common cause of miscarriage. Among pregnant women who suffer early miscarriage, chromosomal abnormalities account for about 50%.

Reproductive system diseases

Uterine hypoplasia, deformity, and uterine fibroids will directly affect embryo development and cause miscarriage. Having too many abortions can also damage the uterus.

Disease

If a pregnant woman suffers from serious heart or lung disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, etc., it may indirectly harm the development of the fetus and cause miscarriage. Pregnant women with lupus erythematosus have a 30% chance of miscarriage. This is because the fetus of a pregnant woman with this disease will develop smaller and may even die in the womb due to insufficient placental function.

Have had miscarriage

If an embryo remains in the body during an abortion, or if the reproductive tract becomes infected or bleeding, or if bacteria or viruses enter the fetal blood circulation through the placenta, miscarriage may also occur.

Taking medication

Some hormone drugs, certain types of traditional Chinese medicine, etc., if used improperly, can also cause miscarriage in pregnant women.

Other factors

Busy work, stressful life, too much mental stress, long-term exposure to chemical environments, etc. will increase the chance of miscarriage.
