What to do if a pregnant woman has a fracture

Pregnant women must take good care of themselves in their daily lives, because if a fracture occurs due to an accident, it will be quite hard on the pregnant woman's back, especially after a fracture, it can easily induce fetal deformities. Attention must be paid to this aspect. Generally speaking, conservative methods can be used for treatment after a pregnant woman has a fracture. If there is severe pain, the doctor's advice must be followed in terms of medication.

What to do if a pregnant woman has a fracture

Pregnant women with fractures, like other fracture patients, need to face the problem of how to examine and how to treat them. Due to the special circumstances of pregnant women, some examinations and drugs may cause fetal malformations, especially within three months, when fetal organs are rapidly forming. Therefore, it is necessary to choose examination methods and treatment measures that do not interfere with the fetus. For examination, you can choose B-ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, which can basically meet the diagnosis of fractures, provide assistance for treatment, and have no effect on the fetus. Pregnant women who are more than three months pregnant can undergo X-ray examinations while wearing lead clothing to protect the fetus, and try not to do CT scans.

In terms of treatment:

1. Try to adopt conservative methods. If conservative treatment cannot achieve good results, it may cause malformation of the fracture and seriously affect the function. If it cannot be compensated, surgery must be performed or even termination of pregnancy may be necessary.

2. Multimodal analgesic treatment. Most analgesics have strong side effects, so it is ideal to choose acupuncture points plus topical analgesics.

3. Reduce the use of drugs during treatment, select drugs with low side effects under the guidance of an obstetrician and gynecologist, and shorten the use time.
