Will getting angry cause tinnitus? Is tinnitus caused by getting angry?

Many people experience tinnitus in their daily lives, and many people think that tinnitus is caused by "getting angry". In fact, tinnitus has little to do with "getting angry". There are many reasons for tinnitus, not only physical reasons but also related to the living environment. So what exactly is tinnitus?

Tinnitus is related to both physiology and psychology

A survey shows that nearly 30% of Chinese people have suffered from tinnitus to varying degrees. Tinnitus refers to the abnormal sound sensation that people experience without any external stimulation. Medically, tinnitus is both a symptom and a disease. However, it has nothing to do with the traditional concept of "getting angry", and is mostly related to ear or systemic diseases, psychological factors, external environment, and living habits.

Tinnitus is the easiest ear health alarm to sound. Generally speaking, external otitis, foreign bodies in the external ear, tympanic membrane perforation, otosclerosis, acoustic neuroma, etc. may all cause tinnitus. Some systemic diseases may also cause tinnitus if they cause damage such as blood microcirculation disorders in the ear, such as high blood pressure, low blood pressure, diabetes, etc.

In addition, some ototoxic drugs such as gentamicin, streptomycin or kanamycin may also cause tinnitus and hearing loss. Usually when such toxic drugs affect ear health, tinnitus will appear first, followed by hearing loss. Therefore, if tinnitus occurs after using such drugs, it must be taken seriously.

In addition to medical causes, tinnitus may also be caused by psychological or mental factors. For example, sudden stimulation from an unexpected event, excessive mental tension or low mood, depression, or excessive fatigue may all cause or aggravate tinnitus.

Some inappropriate living habits are also one of the causes of the high incidence of tinnitus. For example, high cholesterol or high-salt diet can cause or aggravate tinnitus; using diet foods, drinking strong tea and caffeinated beverages, and drinking alcohol can aggravate tinnitus. In addition, excessive smoking can cause oxygen deprivation in the inner ear hair cells and can also cause tinnitus. Therefore, when tinnitus occurs, after ruling out physiological and psychological factors, you should also check whether there is something wrong with your lifestyle habits.

Experts warn that the habit that is most detrimental to ear health is to listen to music with headphones for a long time and at a high volume, especially in noisy environments such as buses and subways. In order to hear clearly, people often turn up the volume too much. Strong sound stimulation can damage the cochlear hair cells, causing tinnitus and even noise-induced deafness.

"Treating tinnitus with tinnitus" is effective in eliminating tinnitus

Since tinnitus often appears before other symptoms, it becomes an early "alarm" for some diseases. After tinnitus occurs, especially when it persists and affects your life, you must seek medical attention immediately. However, it should be noted that the severity of tinnitus is not proportional to the severity of the disease. Severe tinnitus does not necessarily mean that you have a serious disease. Similarly, mild tinnitus does not necessarily mean that the disease is mild.

Generally, tinnitus caused by disease is easier to treat. As long as the disease is cured, the tinnitus will disappear. Tinnitus caused by psychological, environmental and other factors is more complicated to treat. It requires not only psychological counseling and treatment, but also the use of some "treating tinnitus with tinnitus" methods. Currently, the newer masking therapy and habituation therapy in clinical practice are very effective in treating tinnitus.
