Nowadays, rhinitis is becoming more and more common among younger people. Many school-age children have dealt with rhinitis. Rhinitis can affect people’s memory, so what is fungal rhinitis? Overview of Fungal Rhinitis The traditional view is that mold is a conditional pathogen that is more common in people with immunodeficiency, diabetics, burn patients, those who use antibiotics or hormones for a long time, or those who live in a damp and unclean environment. However, in recent years, this disease has also been found in physical examinations of healthy people, which shows that mold can also cause disease in a certain part of the body where the body's resistance is reduced. As for the appearance of headache symptoms, this is due to the obstruction of the maxillary sinus opening, resulting in poor drainage. If the condition persists for a long time, secretions and necrotic substances will accumulate in the sinus cavity, gradually increasing in size and compressing the bones, resulting in symptoms such as headache and nosebleed. Causes of fungal rhinitis Nasal fungal disease is a type of specific rhinitis and can be divided into the following types according to the pathogenic bacteria: 1. Rhinosporidiosis: a chronic granulomatous rhinitis caused by infection with Rhinosporidiosis zebulii. It is common in the nasal mucosa and can affect the skin, vulva, and urogenital organs. 2. Nasal mucormycosis: symptoms include headache, bloody nasal discharge, etc. 3. Nasal aspergillosis: It is characterized by dark red or gray-green lumps in the nasal mucus or during puncture and irrigation. It may induce allergic rhinitis or asthma in some patients. 4. Nasal histoplasmosis: There are no typical clinical manifestations, and it is very similar to the symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection. In addition to nasal congestion, patients often have recurrent coughs, low-grade fever and discomfort, and are often diagnosed and treated as "colds" or "tuberculosis". In addition, there are nasal diseases caused by other fungal infections such as nasal cryptococcosis, nasal actinomycosis, nasal candidiasis, and nasal blastomycosis. At the same time, it is reminded that patients with tinea manuum and tinea pedis are also prone to fungal infections if they have the habit of picking their noses. In addition to nasal congestion, they are often accompanied by symptoms of dry and uncomfortable nose, and their nasal mucosa is often rough and uneven. Clinical manifestations of fungal rhinitis Nasal congestion is characterized by intermittent nature. It is relieved during the day, in hot weather, while working or exercising, and is aggravated at night, when sitting still or in cold weather. Another characteristic of nasal congestion is its alternation. When lying on your side, the lower nasal cavity is blocked, but the upper nasal cavity is well ventilated. Due to nasal congestion, occasional loss of smell, headache, dizziness, and nasal speech, etc. Excessive nasal discharge is often mucous and purulent and only appears after secondary infection. The mucus flows back into the throat and can cause excessive sputum. Prevention of fungal rhinitis 1. Keep exercising: Keep doing physical exercise regularly, especially cold-resistant exercise. You should go outdoors more often to breathe fresh air to improve the blood circulation of the nasal mucosa. 2. Wash your nose frequently: We breathe through our noses every day, inhaling a large amount of dust, bacteria, sulfur dioxide and other waste gases and viruses in the air. As the first gateway for the human body to interact with air, the nose is constantly invaded by polluted air. Although the nasal mucosa has filtering and cleaning functions, regular nasal washing will help the nasal cavity function better. 3. Correct bad habits: Picking your nose, plucking or cutting nose hair with your hands are all very harmful to your little nose, because damage to nose hair and nasal mucosa will not only cause purulent infection in the nasal cavity, but may also cause intracranial and ear diseases. 4. Health massage: Proper health massage of the nose can greatly enhance the function of the nose. For example, pressing acupoints such as Yingxiang, or rubbing the sides of the nose bridge up and down with the thumbs of both hands dozens of times; or pressing one nostril to open the other nostril, etc., are all good ways to strengthen the nasal function. 5. What to do if your nose bleeds: If you encounter nose bleeding, never lie down or tilt your head back. Be sure to spit out the blood in your mouth, do not swallow it, so as not to irritate the stomach and cause nausea and vomiting. At the same time, immediately pinch the nostrils on both sides from the depression on the outside of the nose with your index finger and thumb, and use the nostrils to press the bleeding area of the nasal septum. Generally, the bleeding will stop after 3 minutes. 6. Adjust your diet: Eat less spicy and irritating foods. In autumn and early spring, you can eat more foods that have the effect of nourishing yin and moistening dryness to keep your bowels open. 7. Keep the nasal cavity moist: In daily life, pay attention to room ventilation to reduce air pollution. If the climate is too dry with little rain, you can take some corresponding measures, such as applying a little peppermint oil or sesame oil in the nasal cavity, or taking some vitamins C, A, D, etc., which can have a certain protective effect on the nasal cavity. |
