(1) Albinism

It is a hereditary disease that occurs in childhood. The symptoms include whitening of the skin, white or yellowish hair, lack of pigmentation in the eyes, and fear of light.

(2) Anemic nevus

It also occurs in childhood and often occurs on the face, neck, trunk or other parts of the body. There is no darkening of pigment at the edges. When you pat and rub the area, the pigmented spot itself does not turn red, but the surrounding skin does.

(3) Pityriasis alba

It is more common in children and adolescents, mainly on the face, but also on the neck, upper arms and shoulders. It manifests as flaky white spots with unclear edges, grayish-white bran-like scales on the surface, and mild itching.

(4) Tinea versicolor

It is more common in young people, mainly occurring on the chest, back and neck. The lesions appear as light brown spots ranging in size from needle-tips to rice grains, with a few fine bran-like scales on the surface. The lesions turn white as they recede, so light brown and white spots can be seen coexisting. Microscopic examination of the scales may reveal fungi.
