Chronic pharyngitis is a chronic inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa and is often a part of chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract. Most of them are caused by repeated attacks of acute pharyngitis or delayed treatment turning into chronic pharyngitis, or various nasal diseases due to nasal obstruction, long-term mouth breathing and downward flow of nasal secretions, resulting in long-term irritation to the pharynx, or chronic tonsillitis, dental caries, etc. It can also be caused by various physical and chemical factors: such as dust, neck radiotherapy, long-term exposure to chemical gases, excessive smoking and drinking, etc. In addition, systemic factors such as various chronic diseases can also cause this disease.

It is mainly divided into chronic simple pharyngitis, chronic hypertrophic pharyngitis, and atrophic or dry pharyngitis. The main symptoms are various discomforts in the throat, such as foreign body sensation, itching, burning, dryness, slight pain, dry cough, sputum that is difficult to cough out, fatigue when speaking, or nausea when brushing teeth and rinsing mouth, and talking for a long time.
