What is an ovarian chocolate cyst? What are the early symptoms?

Ovarian chocolate cysts are a type of endometriosis lesion. Under normal circumstances, the endometrium grows in the uterine cavity and is affected by female hormones in the body, shed once a month, forming menstruation. So what is ovarian chocolate cyst?

Disease Introduction

Ovarian chocolate cysts are a type of endometriosis. Among them, ovarian chocolate cysts account for about 80%. Ovarian chocolate cysts may affect only one ovary, but more than 50% of patients will have bilateral ovaries affected. As the disease progresses, patients may experience symptoms such as dysmenorrhea, persistent lower abdominal pain, menstrual disorders, infertility and dyspareunia.

Early symptoms

1. Abnormal menstrual pain: Dysmenorrhea is the most obvious symptom of endometriosis, but it is the most easily overlooked precursor.

2. Sexual change pain: This is also an obvious signal, which may be accompanied by punctate bleeding. The symptoms of ovarian chocolate cyst are not very obvious.

3. You can’t get pregnant without contraception: Among infertile women, endometriosis accounts for a high proportion of infertility.

Causes

1. Endocrine factors: This factor is a common cause of ovarian cysts. Although the ovaries are small, they are important organs for producing eggs and ovulating, secreting endocrine hormones, and balancing endocrine system. They often occur during the reproductive age when the endocrine system is active. Therefore, it is believed to be related to endocrine disorders. In addition, if you get angry during your menstrual period, your menstrual period will be interrupted, which will cause the waste to be unable to be discharged and form cysts in the ovaries.

2. Childbirth, multiple miscarriages, etc.: Chocolate cysts are mainly caused by the fact that the endometrial fragments shed from the uterine wall during menstruation cannot be completely discharged from the vagina due to poor drainage, and a small amount of them flow back into the pelvic cavity through the fallopian tubes. Anything that can affect the flow of menstrual blood from the vagina, including vaginal occlusion, narrow cervix, retroverted uterus, cervical adhesions after multiple abortions, sexual intercourse during menstruation, etc., can promote the occurrence of chocolate cysts.

3. Fallopian tube obstruction: Every month, the unfertilized follicles in the ovaries become waste and garbage and need to be excreted. The body's hydraulic pressure is required to squeeze these wastes out. However, due to your functional impairment and the blockage of the fallopian tubes, the waste cannot be discharged. The eggs that cannot be discharged accumulate in the ovaries, forming chocolate cysts. 4. Frequent sexual life: Frequent sexual life is also an important cause of ovarian chocolate cysts. It usually occurs in adolescent girls or menopausal women, which has a lot to do with their frequent sexual life.

5. Physiological reasons: Under normal circumstances, the female endometrium grows in the uterine cavity. With the arrival of the female menstrual period every month, it will peel off and start to thicken and grow again. However, as the endometrium begins to grow in the female ovaries, this part of the endometrium does not leave the body during the menstrual period, but accumulates in the ovaries. As the endometrium growing in the ovaries continues to thicken, the accumulated endometrium will become more and more, causing cysts to appear in the ovaries.
