What are the signs of worsening hand, foot and mouth disease?

Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common disease for children, and the impact and harm it causes are also relatively large, so we must pay attention to some signs of hand, foot and mouth disease. For example, children often have rashes in the hand, foot and mouth area, and may also have fever or anorexia, shallow and difficult breathing and other symptoms.

1. Fever: Most babies with hand, foot and mouth disease have a fever that lasts for 1 to 2 days, with a body temperature of about 38°C (the normal body temperature of babies is the same as that of adults, both at 36 to 37°C), and papules or herpes appear. (If the body temperature persists, it is recommended to seek medical attention as soon as possible to prevent complications.)

2. Anorexia: There are also scattered erythema and herpes on the cheek mucosa and the soft palate inside the lips and tongue (as shown in the figure below). Oral herpes is easy to rupture and form ulcers, so it is particularly painful to eat. As a result, the children will refuse to eat, drool, and other symptoms. Therefore, it is recommended to eat some liquid food.

3. Oral cavity: Oral mucosal rash appears relatively early and is painful. It is composed of mung bean-sized blisters scattered in the mouth, surrounded by red halos. It is mainly located on the tongue and cheeks, and often occurs on the lips and teeth. At the same time, the blisters in the mouth quickly rupture and form small grayish-white dots or a grayish-white film with a red halo around it. Under the grayish-white film, dot-shaped or flaky erosion surfaces can be seen. After 2-4 days, it is absorbed and dried to form a dark brown scab.

4. Symptoms of hand, foot and mouth disease in children with severe symptoms: A small number of cases (especially those under 3 years old) may develop encephalitis, encephalomyelitis, meningitis, pulmonary edema, circulatory failure, etc. Most cases of this disease are characterized by persistent high fever and the disease progresses rapidly. Severe complications of the central nervous system, respiratory system, and circulatory system appear 3 to 5 days after onset, and may cause death. (1) Respiratory system manifestations include: shallow and difficult breathing, changes in respiratory rhythm, cyanosis of the lips, white, pink or bloody foamy fluid (sputum) in the mouth, and sputum sounds or moist rales in the lungs;
