How is genital herpes transmitted?

1. Sexual contact transmission: It should be said that sexual contact transmission is the main way of transmission of genital herpes, so people are encouraged to keep themselves clean. It is transmitted through sexual contact with someone who has genital herpes, including sexual intercourse, passionate kissing, and hugging with skin-to-skin contact. The skin and mucous membranes in the genital area are thin and rich in blood vessels. They are in a state of extreme congestion during sexual intercourse. Friction during sexual intercourse can cause minor injuries, creating conditions for the invasion of genital herpes virus.

2. Indirect contact transmission: In actual situations, there are many cases of transmission through indirect means. Any clothes, bedding, toilets and bath towels used by patients with genital herpes may be contaminated by the patient's secretions and carry the genital herpes virus. Healthy people who live closely with patients with genital herpes are prone to infection when minor wounds come into contact with these virus-contaminated items.

3. Placental transmission: Clinical observations have shown that pregnant women with genital herpes can transmit genital herpes to their fetuses through the placenta. If a pregnant woman has genital herpes and it is not discovered and treated in time, or if it is not treated properly, the genital herpes virus can be transmitted to the fetus through the blood circulation of the placenta, causing the fetus to be infected with the disease.

4. Blood-borne transmission: Some patients with genital herpes who are still in the incubation period have the virus in their bodies not yet manifested. Healthy people or patients with other diseases who receive blood or blood products provided by them may be infected with genital herpes.
