As the tumor grows, the patient will feel symptoms and signs that vary depending on the nature, size, development, and presence or absence of secondary degeneration or complications of the tumor. So what are the early symptoms of adnexal cysts? Signs: Symptoms of adnexal cysts 1. Abdominal mass The most significant characteristic of an abdominal mass that is smaller than medium in size, if without complications or malignant transformation, is its mobility, which can often move from the pelvic cavity to the abdominal cavity. The lump is generally not tender, but if there are complications or malignant changes, not only will the lump itself be tender, but there may even be symptoms of peritoneal irritation. Symptoms of adnexal cysts 2. Ascites The presence of ascites is often a feature of malignancy, but benign cysts such as ovarian fibromas and papillary cystadenomas can also produce ascites. Endocrine symptoms such as hirsutism, deepening of voice, and clitoral hypertrophy are signs of virilizing cysts. Symptoms of adnexal cysts 3. Cachexia It is characterized by an extremely distended abdomen, marked weight loss, a painful facial expression, and severe exhaustion. Clinically, the diagnosis of ovarian tumors should meet four requirements: (1) whether it is an ovarian tumor; (2) what type of ovarian tumor it is; (3) whether there are complications; and (4) on which side the tumor grows. Different types of cysts are determined based on the symptoms of adnexal cysts: Ovarian corona cyst: It is less common than common adnexal cysts, and there is a significant difference in their sizes. A few cysts with a pedicle located in the fimbria can cause severe pain if twisting occurs. The lesion is usually unilateral, but in a very small number of patients with bilateral lesions, malignant changes may occur, eventually forming substantial cancers. Corpus luteum cyst: It is most common in women of childbearing age. There is a tendency for spontaneous degeneration and it is mostly asymptomatic, and there are also very few cases where it disappears on its own clinically. If a cyst ruptures, it can cause internal bleeding or an acute abdomen. Rupture of ovarian chocolate cyst: The disease usually occurs before menstruation or in the second half of the menstrual cycle (luteal phase). Due to repeated bleeding in the cyst cavity before and after menstruation, the intracystic pressure increases sharply, and the cyst is prone to rupture spontaneously or under gravity compression or gynecological examination. Rupture of ovarian corpus luteum cyst: Usually between the 20th and 27th days of the menstrual cycle, sudden lower abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and frequent urination and defecation occur. In a small number of patients, abdominal pain occurs during the middle of the menstrual period or 30 to 40 days. |
