Symptoms of herpes vary according to the type of herpes.

Symptoms of herpes vary according to the type of herpes.

When it comes to the types of herpes, they are clinically different. Among them, impetigo is very common. So, what are the symptoms of impetigo? Please see the introduction below.

1. Bullous impetigo

Bullous impetigo is caused by Staphylococcus aureus and begins as millet-sized blisters that quickly enlarge to the size of a peanut or larger. At first, the contents of the blister are clear. After about one day, the blister fluid becomes turbid, and the pus sinks to the bottom of the blister. The superficial fluid remains clear, forming a crescent-shaped pus accumulation phenomenon, which is one of the characteristics of this type.

After the blister breaks, it becomes an erosive surface with pus scab on it. New blisters may develop around it. Skin lesions often occur on exposed parts of the body such as the face and limbs. The pathological changes are pustules under the stratum corneum of the epidermis, in which many neutrophils can be seen.

2. Impetigo

Impetigo is caused by hemolytic streptococci or a mixed infection of hemolytic streptococci and Staphylococcus aureus.

Blisters occur on the basis of erythema and quickly turn into pustules. The blisters are easy to break and form dense yellow thick scabs, which continue to expand around. It often occurs on the face, around the mouth, around the nostrils, and exposed parts of the limbs. Pathological changes are the same as those of the bullous type. This type may be accompanied by acute glomerulonephritis. Neonatal impetigo belongs to this type.
