What should you pay attention to in your diet for renal failure? These four points are the most critical

Renal failure is a disease that can currently pose a threat to human life. In daily life, people should pay attention to the following four points in their diet after suffering from renal failure.

1. Provide a high calcium and low phosphorus diet

Patients with chronic renal failure may experience increased blood phosphorus and decreased blood calcium, which may induce osteoporosis. An ideal diet should be high in calcium and low in phosphorus. Foods rich in calcium include milk, green leafy vegetables, sesame paste, etc. When cooking fish and lean meat, boil them in water, then remove them and stir-fry them to reduce the phosphorus content in the fish and meat.

2. Chronic renal failure with high blood potassium

Potassium-containing foods should be limited, fruit juice should be avoided, and vegetables and fruits should be selected carefully.

3. Low salt and low sodium

Patients with chronic renal failure combined with hypertension and edema should limit sodium salt and sodium-rich foods, and use a salt-free diet when necessary. Sodium intake should not be restricted when using diuretics or when vomiting or diarrhea is present.

4. Maintain water balance

Water balance is very important in patients with chronic renal failure. Be sure to replenish fluids under the guidance of a doctor to prevent excessive water intake, which may lead to excretion problems and aggravate edema.
