What are the symptoms of sequelae of chronic encephalitis?

In recent years, due to environmental changes, an increase in the number of virus types and other reasons, the incidence of sequelae of encephalitis has increased year by year. So what are the symptoms of sequelae of chronic encephalitis?

1. Neurological and psychiatric disorders: patients have symptoms such as fever, headache, myalgia, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.; Psychiatric disorders are manifested as excitement, talkativeness, irritability, crying and laughing at random, insomnia, abnormal behavior, hallucinations, fantasy, or apathetic expression, decreased activity, anorexia, poor orientation, memory loss, incontinence, etc.

2. Aphasia: Aphasia refers to the loss of language comprehension and expression ability due to damage to the language center of the cerebral cortex. Language disorders can manifest in many forms. Some can only understand but cannot express in their own words; some have memory loss and cannot recall or say the name of an object; some patients with anomia cannot remember the correct name of the object, while others know the word but cannot express it. Dysarthria is the inability to pronounce words clearly and accurately.

3. Agnosia: Agnosia is a rare symptom in which a person can see or perceive an object but cannot associate it with the object’s role and function. Agnosia occurs when a person cannot recognize familiar faces or common objects such as spoons or pencils, even though he or she can see and describe them.

4. Epilepsy: Epileptic seizures are caused by brain dysfunction due to sudden and brief excessive discharge of brain cells. The type of seizure is related to the location where the abnormal discharge originates.
