Why do babies grind their teeth? Three reasons are the most typical

Most babies have symptoms of teeth grinding when sleeping at night. Generally speaking, the phenomenon of teeth grinding in babies is usually related to the following reasons.

1. Intestinal parasitic diseases

Parasites are one of the reasons that affect intestinal function. When a baby suffers from ascariasis, he or she will experience symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal distension, and abdominal pain, which are all caused by the toxins excreted by the ascarids. At the same time, the parasites' nocturnal activities will also affect the baby's normal sleep. Teeth grinding caused by roundworms is caused by abnormal nerves under the influence of toxins.

In addition to roundworms, there is another parasite that often moves at night and affects sleep, and that is pinworms. Unlike roundworms, pinworms not only act on the nerves through toxins, but also cause local itching through ovulation activities, which reduces sleep quality and causes children to grind their teeth.

When most parents see their children grinding their teeth, they will automatically blame it on parasites. In fact, with the improvement of medical and health conditions, the chance of children suffering from parasitic diseases has been greatly reduced. Even so, it is still recommended that parents check and rule out the cause as soon as possible, and children diagnosed with parasitic diseases should take medication under the guidance of a doctor.

2. Excessive mental excitement or tension

Some parents entertain their babies or let them watch TV before bed, which will stimulate the babies' brain nerves, leading to shallow sleep and teeth grinding. When babies are troubled by negative emotions such as anxiety and depression for a long time, their sleep quality will be affected to varying degrees and lead to teeth grinding. It is recommended that parents do not let their babies be in an excited state before going to bed, create quiet and comfortable sleeping conditions, and slowly coax their babies to sleep.

3. Digestive tract disorders

Feeding babies before going to bed is a bad habit. If the food cannot be completely digested before going to bed, the digestive organs will continue to work during sleep, which will also affect sleep and cause teeth grinding. It is recommended to have a balanced nutrition, eat light and easily digestible food at night, and feed in moderation.
